My boss is very cold. Would it be weird for me to ask if I’m overly familiar or otherwise responsible fit the distance?

We would need more context to give you an educated response. But if there is something that makes you think you’ve been overly familiar, i would follow that hunch and reflect on if there’s anything differently that you want to do going forward.

IMO, you do you. If this person is cold, maybe they like it that way, or they’re dead inside

Chillll

What have you done that makes you think you’re “overly familiar”?

No, don’t ask! They are probably just stone cold. I’m bubbly, and the main partner I work with is more reserved. It happens.

Maybe the person is self conscious and doesn't want people to get too friendly or close with them because they fear it will mess up their professional image or they are really clingy once they open up to people so they are trying to keep themselves from getting attached. You'd be surprised how lonely people may be but are afraid of rejection so they settle for measured loneliness.

It’s explained better in later replies. You should take time to read full convo.

You can have it

But really, why did you write it like that?

Tell that partner i said howdy 🤠

I'm not sure what else I did other than being respectful and not giving flip at the same time but (4) mature ladies in my office flirt with me every chance they get. Some of my M colleagues are beginning to notice and giving the prod. I must confess it comes with some perks as I do appreciate how fast they process my requests/orders which a M colleague literally told me is biased. Recently one of them offered to bring me her cooked food and asked that I do the same..(Cont'd)

Hi y’all! Hope this is the right bowl to post this question and get advice. I am dealing with an employer that preaches our values. The owner states that the values are important to her etc yet my manager violates these values and is involved in unethical behavior frequently. Example 1: My manager has told specialists (resourcers) that she will pay them under the table in order for her (manager) to get full credit vs splitfor the placement and therefore (barely) hit her target for the quarter.

Any articles or books on maintaining a trusted client relationship? OR any pointers towards doing that?
One consistent feedback I receive is that I don't follow through on client relationship. I build tremendous trust and good will during an engagement, but I let the relationship die out once we wrap the work out. OR It is luke warm at best with a periodic email once in a while, unable to introduce people or grow the relationship.
Any help?

What is the advice on what feedback to leave for a peer who really sucks at everything y'all have worked together on? It's about the time where everyone on my team requests feedback from each other and I'm nervous for it coming up. My manager knows that everything I've worked w her on I end up doing 90% of the work when it's meant to be split so it is a known issue. We're both at level 3 so are genuinely peers. She seems like a nice person but i have 0 positive work feedback tbh

If I am looking to leave my company, considering all of these things, how do I do it in the least awkward, most professional way possible? I want to put in at least a two week notice, but will continuing my work after that be weird?

1st year/stub in Texas. I was a summer at my firm in both 2019-2020. Thought I preferred litigation, and told the firm that last summer. Had a change of heart, and in April of this year asked the CTO to switch to transactional. However, she said they didn’t have a need for another junior in transactional. Now I’m in lit and hate it. Can I ask to switch again? When would be the best time to do so? Or should/can I lateral as a 1st yr? I like my firm, just don’t want to start my career like this

Is it normal to struggle with the transition to starting your first legal job?
