I have worked in BPS for around 8.5 years and have excellent command over Excel, I have been moved to IT project and have 3 years experience in it as functional consultant/Quality Analyst/SME/Business Analyst.

I wouldn’t listen to my boss who is stepping out the door. I’d look at things as a whole.
I actually think where there is chaos there is opportunity. Fundamentally you need to decide if you like your job and it provides the intellectual, spiritual and financial rewards you want. If it does…why look elsewhere. If it is missing something then I’d back myself to find an organisation that can provide it, and I’d back myself to make a contribution such that they wouldn’t let me go even in a recession.
2/3 staff losses were my boss (they didn’t leave because of me haha). I’m not super happy in my position or with team culture, so unless I can find an opportunity that makes it worth it, seems like all signs are pointing to leaving.
