My boss the general manager is setting me up at work. She is saying all this stuff about me that is not true at all. But when I come into her shift or come into my shift after hers nothing is done for me. A lot of the prep is not done. And she complains about me not doing the prep. Stuff Is still dirty. One day she left the grill on. Etc. There was another manager there training to run another store and she said I basically do a lot of the work while she doesn't do much. So she stood up for me.

Told my partner that I am experiencing severe covid symptoms and that am running around trying to get a test (very difficult where I am located right now). His response was to call him later today when I am *finally* at my desk to discuss a matter which requires work over the weekend. Is this normal?

My coworkers & I have a group chat. Fairly often, we do some griping about work. We also have fun convos, share dog pics, etc. Sometimes though, you just want to commiserate. One coworker frequently comments about how it could be worse, stay positive, her prior job was so much worse, etc. One of us had called her out twice. She’s cool otherwise (except for a need to educate people unnecessarily on a semi regular basis) but this is really souring my desire to maintain a relationship w her.

Ok I recently moved from Seattle to Auckland for work, and everything's been great except for one thing. I feel really rude and stupid even complaining about this but I'm not used to talking to and making small talk with so many strangers daily. In Seattle you maybe say hello to the person you buy your paper from and here I'm getting into discussions with people while I wait for a red light. Everyone is so nice but I'm exhausted! What's a polite way to say I can't talk right now?

Aww, bummed to see this is a dead bowl. Anyone still around?? Getting ready for our first internal off-site and I haven't seen the rest of my team in person for almost 3 years now. I'm more nervous about the new folks that I have only met via Teams, including my 1st-ever direct report. I feel fine in my own skin most of the time but when I am in new and unfamiliar situations I get crazy body dysmorphia and super concious of my physicality. The hostility on my team is rough. We have a yeller. I walked by her room the other day. She was screaming across the room at a student, "you have to be kind to get kindness." Seriously, those were her words in a loud, berating, angry tone. Our admin has asked that we not report these. We are to talk to the teacher. She has yelled at me and other adults. Admin has to know she treats the kids this way too. One teacher has to work with her door closed to not hear the yelling all day.

Annoyed that I missed my group holiday party last night because the counsel i'm working for left an assignment until the last minute before delegating to me and the client was super pissed they hadn't gotten it. I've been practicing for 10 years and I still can't prevent this shit from happening. and I was up until 4 am while he sent me comments. he knows my baby gets up at 6. I like working at a firm but how can I escape working for these people? I was really excited for this party.

I just recently worked 58.6 hours in a week, weekly pay, nice OT profit right? Depends on where you live.

In Iowa, there is no Overtime pay mandate, the overtime pay is at the discretion of the business. I received 58.6 hours of base pay for the week.

If the company makes less than $1 million per year or does not engage in intercontinental sales, the company is not required to pay the overtime rate of time and a half, just your base rate.

So I work as an assistant manager at a restaurant for the past 9 months. I've worked in restaurants for the past 6 years science I was 16. Now I'm 22. I went to a trade school for media and film. Hi! I need some help negotiating a raise. I have been working for this company for exactly 3 months now, but I was hired as an AGM. I'm not specific on what my responsibilities are as AGM.
However the GM at the time, quit 1 and a half months in. I was thrown into the role and have been handling it since.
My regional calls himself our GM but is never on site.
Was reluctant to cover my shifts when I became sick and requested time off for a few days. (4 days)
Any thoughts?
