I mean it’s a buzz cut, can’t really mess it up.
Just put the buzzer on a reasonable length and make sure all the hair is that length.
It’s like cutting grass.

Start with a longer clipper than you think you need and work your way down. Once you cut too short there’s no going back. Leave it a little longer on top than on the sides and back.

You can always take more off, you can't add it back. Don't go too short on top--it looks funny if it's equal on all sides.
Get real shears if you don't wanna buzz all of it for some reason

I’ve been shaving my husband’s head for the last 2-3 years. Start with a longer attachment than you think you’ll need. You can always go shorter, but you can’t reattach hair that’s been cut. The actual length can vary by brand, but you’ll probably want to start around 1.5-2 and see how that looks.

Hold the guard in place with the edge of your index. I've been on the receiving end of a haircut when the "barbers" guard fell off 🥺🥺

My wife has been cutting mine without prior experience and it has perfectly well. As long as he knows the length he normally has it cut to, there is nothing that can go wrong. Its just putting the right number attachment onto the clippers and going over it from different angles until all the hair is that length. If he does different lengths (e.g. shorter on the sides and longer on top) then it is best to use a measurement in between to taper off gradually. Do the longest length first and then reduce in order.

It's hard to ruin a buzz cut. Two things that will help
1. Hair grows in different directions and you'll need to make sure to use the clippers in multiple directions to ensure consistency of cut
2. If the last haircut was weeks or months ago, it's going to be messy. Do it in a bathroom and wrap something around him and you.

Make sure the clip doesn’t fall off. Don’t attempt to blend, stick with one length. Always start from the bottom, going up, when finishing the border.

If he is willing to let you do it and is comfortable with the risk, you should have no apprehension! 🪒👍🏻😁
To get an even buzz cut make sure to press the guard flat against his scalp. Otherwise you will get wildly uneven lengths across his head

Always, always, always cut using the bottom of the guard against the skin... I thought that was obvious but it apparently was not 😔

Start with long attachment and take it from there a little at a time

Does he want a full shave (i.e., with no guard attachment, also referred to as a "zero")? If so, you can't mess it up by going too short. You could nick or cut him, but not much risk. Also, if he has any moles or birthmarks on his head, you are going to want to be careful around those areas - I shave my head every few weeks and occasionally will cut off a bit of a mole.

Use clipper guide size #4 on top and #2 on side and back. Just blend on edges. Use right ear and left ear guides if you have any. Work your way down in guides if he wants shorter hair.
Don't use a beard trimmer like I did. WAY too short...
Before and after pics please

You’ll have to check online but many of the men that I work with are using an app where the hairdresser comes to you and your home. They are professional hairdressers and you find one close to your location and they come with all the supplies. Many of the men I have talked to have either had their haircut on their deck or in the garage. If you’re worried about social distancing
Lol! Do it slowly and carefully. It’s not too bad but don’t go too fast.
Don’t do it. Find a speakeasy barber. They are out there.
