2 years at level and have been doing manager level work leading teams and reporting directly to senior managers 90% of the time. Feedback has all been good and documented. Metrics are good and always asking for feedback on improvement. From a skills growth perspective (both hard and soft) I am 10 times better than I was 2 years ago so just decided if I don’t get promotion this year I’m hitting the road covid or no covid, thoughts?

What’s the best argument for asking for a promotion/raise? It’s the first time I’m doing that. I feel that I have a lot of responsibilities compared to when I started.

I was just given a promotion and the compensation was lower than what I hoped given my external market data research (20k under that) and knowing the midpoint to my previous level (9k under that). I’ve never negotiated a promotion before and was prepared to do it in a way where I shared that I’m extremely grateful and excited for the opportunity but wanted to see if we could discuss the comp. Basically it went the way we fear as women - I was told it makes me look ungrateful.

Working on a busy project with a first year and it’s their first big project since starting big law. I’m also a junior, but not a first year. I am kind of shocked at how inefficient the first year is. They’re just barely getting the work done and I assume that’s all you can ask for. But because of that, more and more keeps getting added to my plate. Trying to be compassionate, but it seems like they don’t really care they’re not doing a great job - they log off early, don’t always turn in work.
