Not sure if this is an ADHD symptom or a form of avoidance that’s specific to me but since I’ve started working, I feel physically incapable of keeping up with my friendships and relationships, like the bandwidth is completely gone. I never felt this way in law school/ever before but now I’m going ages without responding to texts and I’m starting to really see some strong friendships fall to the wayside. The thing is if I had anything to give, I would!

My step in laws are TERRIBLE. Not directly to me but family dynamic is stressful. They parent their youngest kid with pills and ignoring him, so that he does inappropriate things around me with zero correction (walking in on me, insulting me). They are all half siblings (4 boys 30-11) so they all don’t care including my partner. FIL also verbally abuses MIL in front of us. Yet they all want to please him constantly. It’s just bad.

Food was good though.

Here 28 weeks pregnant and tired of hearing you would need to do this for better lactation, you would have sleepless nights. Can a new mother not figure out on her own with the right scientific knowledge ? Is it important to go by what your parents , in-laws or known ones tell you ?

Is a post-PhD gap year to travel and be reminded of what life is like a bad idea?

I hate my job. Absolutely despise it. Wake up/go to sleep every day with a heavy dread for the future. Grind my teeth in my sleep. Gaining weight. Blood pressure spikes whenever my phone goes off. Becoming unable to hide my disdain for coworkers and clients on calls, emails, etc. Have a loving and supportive partner but feel like I can't relate to her at all because she enjoys her work. I don't want to go back to my post-graduation poverty but damn, at least I felt like I was a real person.

Any tips on howNOT to be super resentful towards in-laws this time of year? Despite them living close & retired they have seen my 8 mo old a handful of times. We have needed help during the pandemic with child care, but they never stepped up - Instead, they have chosen to spend time with their other grandchild, who is in 1st grade which makes it impossible for us to see them bc of covid risk. Now we will host them this wknd for earlyXmas, and I’m just so resentful at how absent they have been.
