Do any fish out there have excoriation disorder (chronic skin-picking)? I acquired this really bad habit while WFH and am starting to fear that I will not be able to kick it before going back on-site. My finger tips are always bleeding to some degree or missing skin lol. Might freak the client out. Would appreciate advice if anyone has kicked this habit.
Hey all! Any guidance on leaving my firm after being placed on an upcoming project? I got an industry offer that I’d love to take, but I just got word that a new client would like me for a project after several weeks of interviewing with them. The project is scheduled to start in about 4-6 weeks, so I havent started anything, but I can imagine the conversations would be tricky, given the amount of effort invested already from both sides. Anyone gone through a similar thing?
Got feedback today that I need to be more “pushy”. I think it’s a good sign, as it indicates they value my input. But I feel like the moment I start pushing back I’ll be labeled as bossy. Happened before on a previous project. Ugh. Men don’t have these problems 😔
Boutique consultant (3yrs) asking; for those working @ Big 3, what are the biggest problems you see with your engagement models consistently across different clients? What do you see the chief, consistent complaint? What would you change to improve client satisfaction if you were head of the firm for a day? Thanks!
when you're on a local project but hours are so bad you leave before the grocery store/drycleaners open and come home after they close.
Hi ladies, I had my manager thank one of my coworkers (male) for setting me up for success in one project where he did nothing about. I launched the project, I met the tight deadline and on top of that i have a better relationship with the client that my coworker, bc the client reached out directly to me to take over . I have my 1:1 with my manager tomorrow and will bring this up, but any advice how to best address this? I don’t want him to make this a “oh this is how you feel” thing- thanks
When I started a project at an independent agency, I was told the work load would be around 15 hours, or that was the max. The client loved what I gave them and didn't have any feedback, so my work is pretty much done but I think it took me more like 10 hours. Should I still charge for 15?
(Founder) I often find myself willing to spend a few days working with specific companies of interest for free to better understand the industry & design offerings. Ex. I recently gave a crypto firm 10 free hrs to get a handle on the space. I think it's worth it, esp if the company in Q is a potential client. What isn't worth it is the "acquisition" piece; hunting this down usually takes more time than the hours given. Like this if you'd be interested in a marketplace! Feedback appreciated
I was supposed to roll off of a project this week. But have been extended til end of May. I really am trying to hold out, so then maybe I can take LOA in June? please just send positivity my way because thought the proj isn’t bad, I just feel like offing myself everyday
Hi everyone. I'm making the switch to consulting and have never worked as a consultant. Any tips as to how I can set myself up for success? What should I be looking into learning and what questions should I be asking? I bring a Computer Science background with a strong focus on Data Engineering. I want to stay in the BI and Analytics space but don't know anything about what to expect on the day to day. I Will be placed on a project first week. Looking for industry tips/advice. Thanks in advance!
State of emergency in Georgia, got an email from client that starts with "As you plan your commute tomorrow morning...." How many points?
Folks -How to find Senior level positions (Director /technical project manager) @Analytics in Startups or high potential companies?I thought of using Linkedin premium but not sure if that’s the best option. Thanks
If all the top consulting firms made anonymous decks or gave anonymous pitches to a client, eg no branding and the client did not know which firm made which deck, do you actually think that the client would prefer MBB? Is MBB actually coming up with better/more innovative solutions? I feel like I see many repeat or slightly altered solutions on almost all of my cases, are these really things that people at Deloitte/Accenture etc aren’t coming up with?
I am on H4EAD. Can I travel to Puerto Rico for project work ? Anyone one h1/h4 visa recently traveled to Puerto Rico ? How was the experience and any immigration related formalities due to COVID ?
Venting: Just had a designer refuse to lowercase a word because they “felt strongly” that I was wrong about it. Even after I pulled examples from the client website of the correct usage, and got the 2cents of the copywriter who’s been on the account for 8 years. I had to tell them that they were being inappropriate and just make the change. Finally they did, and then shot me a note saying they’d find time on our calendars to talk about this tomorrow. Talk about what??? Who gets the final say?
Think I messed up.. I was supposed to email the partner asking what is going on with one project team lead, I emailed the project team lead asking what went wrong… anything to do about this
Any packaging designer available for a small gig? Not agency project, helping a friend’s start up.
Hello Fishes, I am serving my notice period in TCS and currently working in client location in India. Since, client follow banking holidays, do I need to go to office on odd Saturdays? If I do not go will that affect my notice period? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks😊
HOW do I stop caring so much about this job? I’ve been handed a non-billable project to manage and complete on an absolutely impossible timeline. I can’t stop thinking about how disappointed everyone will be when I can’t deliver and satisfy their ridiculous expectations. Maybe I’m having a bad day, but this is the closest I’ve been to quitting on the spot.
FFS recruiters. Looks like I have to do this on my own. Looking for a Senior Art Director who wants to make good stuff, even for a difficult client.
Have 3yoe at Big 4 and ACN, and left for a small firm but hating it. All of my three work experiences are wildly different. I want to return back to consulting but wondering if jumping around will hurt my chances of getting a new job?
Did any big 4 firms meet target this year... heard raises are lower throughout all firms?
That time when all your kids are sick, you are in between homes and you get laid off. Should have gone down another road when that black cat crossed my path last month.
Can somebody please explain to me why MBB and other top consulting firms are so adamant that you have an MBA? I majored in accounting, finance, and operations management at a top 10 undergrad business school and then got my masters in information systems from the grad school program. I took multiple MBA courses as electives when getting my masters and it seemed like those classes were very basic and easy. Idk if I would learn anything in an MBA program that I hadn’t already learned in undergrad
Last week I received my green card after 10 years of wait. My employer and attorney asked me to send front and back photocopy of my card which I promptly did without thinking much. Is this normal for employer or attorney to ask? Should I be concerned?
Wanting to apply for a role at LinkedIn, but noticed it asks if you are a Deloitte employee. Are they going to ask Deloitte for information or alert them in any way that I’m applying elsewhere?
I am an interdisciplinary studies major concentrating on organizational leadership and sociology. I have 17 years of management experience already and I'm not young. I will need an internship this summer, but I tend not to get calls on my applications. I'm nervous because I will need the internship to graduate, and it needs to fulfill expectations of both OGL AND SOC. Human resources, DEI, talent development or acquisition, ethics, all would be great (I think). Best places to look? Thank you!
Does Accenture Strategy pay the same across groups? In line with other T2 shops? (S&, OW, ATK, etc.) Curious of comp for a C level experienced hire.
Got an offer from MBB, but I’d be starting fresh—no tenure. Are the exit ops worth me giving up 2 years of tenure?
IM or SM in this group who need a Business Analyst in their project/ company? Please comment or DM
I have PTO scheduled over Memorial Day but I am planning to put my two weeks this week. Should I tack on the additional days to cover the PTO time? Not sure how to handle the awkward timing
Hill Holliday in Boston laid off a bunch of people and so far, by my count, it's 13 women 3 men. 4 working moms. 1 woman 6 months pregnant. And most of the creative layoffs were women??
With Tell Day around the corner, I was wondering how soon can we submit resignation letter whilst not affecting our bonus payout? That's assuming it's worth hanging around for.
Has anyone transitioned from Deloitte to McKinsey as a non-MBA masters? How did you make the transition? How is the culture different? What are the pros/cons?
Serious question. What baby items are most expensive? (other than diapers, formula, college education, nanny.. Etc)
I recently received two offers: (1) Deloitte (S&O); and Accenture (Technology Consulting). Which would be more aligned to MBB/FAANG?
Do you share client names with family or close group of friends when they ask what project you’re on? Obviously not sharing the specific details or work.
I currently work in a mid-size firm (top 20). Is it possible to go from a mid size firm to a big 4 firm? I know there is a lot of movement from big 4 to mid size/regional but don't hear a lot about
