Tell your boss, your partner, counselor and senior partner. When that goes south you will need all the top cover you can find

Thanks everyone, forgot to mention my SA and HR are now involved. The last thing I want is a mark on me that I’m getting people fired. I’m supposed to be their “second in command,” but to be honest both sides are not wrong in this issue. I’m just not saying anything at his time. Too much drama for me 😂
Thanks BAH2. That’s why I put it in quotations. It is the explained situation and others that have built a decent amount of concern around this client. Leadership and HR will lead the way.
Yea only thing I would do is gather hard data. I work in PE Ops and this happens often. For example, I was doing a SIOP evaluation and knew the purchasing manager was awful at her job.
Found actual data in her purchasing habits - she literally overbought by 10%. Got her demoted. Tread very carefully and remember to protect your ass. Document everything from both parties, if the client ask you to do things- make sure it’s in writing. If you don’t want to do it can you push this off as scope creep?
It’s not scope creep. Gathering dirt for client is not your job and is screwed up. Say no
Tell the account partner as well
Have you told the OIC?
I may be naive, but how is that your job to gather information on your client’s employees?
OP—this shouldn’t be considered a dilemma at all. Your client is asking you to do something blatantly unethical and you need t start documenting everything and immediately notify your entire chain of command up to the VP/OIC.
Drag your feet until the dust settles (aka stay the f* out of it) 😀

Tell your SA and P stat, and give your CM a heads up, too. They'll probably rope in your VP.
Document everything and make sure your leadership is copied (I'd Cc your project leadership and Bcc your firm leadership) on all communications regarding this.
It interesting that both sides trust you in that way.
Stay the hell out of that, and inform your PM. If the problem persists and your PM doesn’t help you deal with it, either to their higher ups or corporate ethics. You do not want to be involved in that stuff.
The plus side, your client loves and trusts you. The downside.... depending on how much money the contract is, your firm will probably take the client side.
Document and CYA
