My client made me an offer in a city I’m not excited about and know no one. But I absolutely love the company, the people, and I know I would be happy with good pay and work-life balance...(cont)

If you tell us the city, we’ll tell you how awesome and exciting it is. Unless it’s Detroit

The answer is hidden in the question. You know you’ll be happy. Stop asking people and make the jump. You can always come back to consulting but this opportunity may not come again

What city?

Depends on what Midwest city. Being from Cleveland and currently living in Chicago, I would say def go for it if those two. Also have heard great things about a few other big cities there. On the other hand, if it is detroit, run.

We're all nervous about changes and the unknown. Itll make you stronger taking a leap of faith into that unknown and gaining new experiences. We can't always stay in what we're "comfortable" with

like

I did that. Worked out for me and my wife. Couldn't be happier with the move.

Make sure you stay in that new city a couple weekends, you can’t make your whole life the job. I was offered a job in Hartford, CT loved the client loved the people the work would’ve been easy with a higher salary but I stayed a couple weekends and HATED it. It was so boring, no young professionals, I would’ve been alone and the airport sucked to leave, so I’m glad I didn’t take it

like

I don’t feel comfortable to say, it might give it away, but it’s a cold Midwest city and I live in NYC and all family and friends are in the northeast so I’m scared I’ll be super lonely

like

If it's Chicago, I will go for it. Unless other places make you an offer that you can't turn down

Anyone taken the plunge? Not sure how to make this decision

OP what city?!?

Pro se plaintiff, an attorney, filed a complaint alleging mold defects after closing on a property. Client, layperson, may have agreed orally to a settlement amount without proof of damages prior to filing appearance and obtaining an attorney. Client then got an attorney, filed answer, etc. Can this oral agreement be voided for coercion, indefinite mat’l term, etc?

New Project Manager here, staffed on a project where I am responsible for QA/Auditing tickets which I am not quite familiar with, and almost everyday, I receive emails from my lead that I missed something. I hate auditing type of work and I am not extremely good at attention to details. Should I continue sucking up or try to leave?

While everyone’s situation is unique, it appears to me that there is a general (and substantive) difference between the mindset of senior execs/partners (Gen Xers) and the Gen Z/Millennial troops as to the need to head back to the office. There is a world of difference between “the office” as code for “client lunches, rounds of golf” vs “needless commuting time that will eat into a working day that is already unsustainable”. Do you feel your organization is in touch with where you are?
