Teaching Autistic Support via Zoom is so difficult. The behaviors are way worse and there is next to nothing I can do to help my students parents.

I just finished a presentation as the final step of an interview process (after 9 interviews). I think it went pretty well, but presenting on Zoom is weird when you can’t see everyone’s facial expressions while sharing slides. Fingers crossed!

Does anyone have a good way to utilize Microsoft Teams for tracking cases?

Anyone else finding it very difficult to get any enjoyment out of account management these days? Any coping tips? I feel like being an account person is especially difficult in the COVID era since so much of what we do is manage communications, ensure the team is set up well etc. None of this feels particularly fun alone staring into the void of Zoom all day ... but the same pressure is still there. I feel like I spend every week counting down to the weekend which kinda sucks.

I’m going to start doing read alouds on Zoom for the students. Any recommendations for upper elemetary? Maybe something uplifting to help battle the anxiety they might be feeling?

Has anyone seen any unique places to find UX portfolios or post jobs other than the usual suspects?
Some UX Slack channels were doing well for a while but I definitely don’t see as much traction there. Meetups obviously came and went. Even the portfolio sites like Dribbble and Behance don’t seem that same.

Generally curious how many companies offer phone reimbursement? My last gig did not but the current one does. Legally it seems, all employers are required to do so if we use our phone in literally any capacity (video call, slack, teams, emails etc). How prevalent is the issue of not reimbursing phone dues?

I’ve worked at places that all have different holiday policies. EA has at minimum a nice 10 day shutdown from Christmas Eve through New Years. It’s great to know that there will be no slack messages or an exploded inbox to come back to while away. I’ve been at other studios that only give you Christmas Eve & Day and New Years Eve & Day and then the rest is up to you to request for PTO and this is obviously the suck.

DO YOU JUST ASSUME THE COST OF YOUR MARKETING ACTIVITIES? I am looking to allocate their cost in the marketing budget in a way that won't rely on several layers of assumptions. How do you reliably estimate the cost of different marketing activities (email, social, web, etc) when you don't have specific people or tools allocated to each function and costs are spread across many channels? Ads seems the easiest, but even then there's time and overheads... I've been looking for a reliable model.

2018 Update: Phases of Project Management Lifecycle

Looking for career advice… currently at a pharma agency but am well tired of the woes that come with it. Currently making 125k and looking to transition to a more technical / internal PM or maybe resource manager role. Has anyone done the switch? How much of a cut did you take?

Review and compensation time is coming up and trying to get a feel for “what the market will bear”.
Right now I’m sitting at $102K CAD, plus a bonus (usually under $10K). I suspect my salary is not up to market standard and I may be behind the eight ball. My stats:
- Currently a Senior Project Manager, working on both internal projects AND projects for clients where I bill
- 13 YOE, 6 YOE direct PM experience/role
- National Professional Services Firm
- Canada based

Leaving current job to move to big agency in an account/pm hybrid role but title is AS. Any advice? Will it be hard to get back to PM role later in life?
