My company is starting to lay people off.
However, I'm currently less than 25% busy as most of my customers are dealing with coronavirus.Should I ask my boss for more work or would that put me at risk?

Ask if they need help with business development (proposals/pursuits)

Yes. See where else you can help.

More risky to be 25% billable than to raise your hand and ask for more.

Transferred with my company to the UK from the U.S. literally three weeks before the pandemic hit. The transition has definitely been difficult as I came for a new office culture and city experience, leaving loved ones and a higher salary behind, which covid has obviously tainted. One year ago this weekend my mother was dying of Covid 2000 miles away from me. On Mother's Day we were told to make a decision to either consent to an invasive surgery that may do nothing or put her on hospice. She died on her own while my siblings and I tried to decide. I need to crawl into a cave this weekend until this holiday passes.

But anytime I wanna talk about it, the stress and nerves overwhelm me and my eyes start welling up. Idk how to control it.
