I think you can reasonably ask for this information to be taken down.
Yeah seriously, did they give a reasoning for this? Seems odd
No, I completely understand. Did they share why they did this? Is this a part of a community building effort?
You're absolutely valid. They should've at least sent out a warning before hand that they were planning to do this. If you don't feel comfortable, you have the right to ask for ti to be taken down.
You're not wrong at all. I don't really see why they would do. It seems very random and unnecessary.
Information like that shouldn't be provided without your consent. The only thing they could provide was your time zone.
Not at all! By all means, go for it. It was unethical of them to disclose personal information like that without initially asking for your consent. Did they provide any reason as to why they did this?
It should be strictly confidential in the first place. I wouldn't feel comfortable either. You might want to ask those whose names were also included in the list if they want to come forward as well.
I don't think it is wrong at all. If you aren't comfortable with it, then you aren't comfortable with it. Period end of story.
No, you're not wrong at all. I've seen companies do this but it was opt-in and for the purpose of meeting others. Maybe you could pose that as the alternative.
My company lists remote + state in our regular contact profiles so that is visible for everyone because we're a global company that works across timezones, but no cities. So maybe pulling back to the broader state/regional+country level could be a second option.
I think this will not be an issue if the company informed you beforehand and asked for your permission. Knowing your exact location will make the other employees aware of your time zone so they will know when to contact you. But doing this without prior notice and permission is not correct.
