My contract is up end of December, how far out would you start applying elsewhere?

For context, my current role is cool and I want to see my time through. Also some chance to go FTE, based on budget approvals…

Seems the duration and hiring process is all over the place depending where you look.

I have an interview at a large pharma company this week for a commercial role, associate director level. I’ll be interviewing with a panel of directors via video call.

What is the appropriate attire for this setting? It seems a little crazy to wear a suit jacket to a video call.

It’s been painfully slow this past month in my department (corporate law) and I had low hours throughout the summer. I am currently working in a leading architecture and design firm for almost a year now. I have 3 years of experience. When I started in this firm I was told that they will reconsider my position in sometime. I recently asked HR regarding salary review, but he denied and said they are not considering anymore salary this year and next salary considerations would be in Q1 of next year(6 more months). I had a really weird interview for Creative Director today.

It’s a small startup. HR interviewed me and asked all the hard hitting questions (how do you get design inspiration, how do you deal with design roadblocks, what sets you apart for this role?) which I thought was odd for a screening interview.

They made some affirmative noises then said the next step would be a design test (one pager) which I would present to a panel of interviewers including the CMO.
Anyone else think this is odd?

Does certifications for design matter? Like for UX design?

In an internal where the other designer’s option in objectively not as good as mine. I swear it’s not my ego talking. But the CD seems to give more praise to her. Why does that happen? Is it over compensation? Anyone have the same experience? Would love a CD’s POV.
