My contract says that any work I do is the intellectual property of my company. Does this include freelance work, hobby work, etc?

It depends. Some companies have moonlighting policies that indicate the steps to take to work in personal projects while keeping ownership. I suggest checking your company's handbook or with HR.

You would be better served by reviewing your contract. The position you are in is a slippery slope because there are many other variables to take into consideration.

I believe so, but you should definitely look into it more.

That's REALLY gonna depend on your contract. If you don't want to really comb through the contract, you could always just ask HR.

Oh gosh, I hope not. I have broken my contract dozens of times if that'sthe case

I’m in NYC and am looking around for other opportunities in healthcare. I was wondering what other institutions’ benefit packages are. How much do you all pay in premiums?

I currently have my partner on my EPO plan at MSK and pay about $88 total every two weeks. I just want to know what other institutions are offering (Cornell, Columbia, NYU, Mount Sinai, Flatiron Health, etc).

What are your suggestions on accepting a job offer in the following scenario:
The job location is in Japan, Tokyo. Since the borders are closed for Indians, my work location is remote in India for now. Salary is paid as per Indian market.
When the borders are open, I need to relocate to Japan. I haven't been told about the salary that I would get when I relocate. HR here says once borders open and the Japan company's HR will discuss on the salary range suitable for the Japan market.

👀 To my fellow Floridians,

I’m currently in the later rounds of interviewing for a company called LSQ, as a new grad, for a Jr. UX Designer role. The company seems solid; smaller, but good culture.

My only hesitation leading into what will inevitably be the offer/negotiation part of the process, is that they’ve mentioned a few times that their salary range is $60k-70k. This feels a bit low, given my existing experience, development skills, & award winning projects.

Any insights? Suggestions?

Hi Bowl . I'm contemplating an offer from Unity in Canada. Anyone has any insights into how the company is,its WLb? Future etc. Pay seem to be better compared from where I'm today with thr RSU component

PMs, what's a good book about coding? Left analytics to do a CS degree to better understand engineering before moving to product side. Have to do a book report for a SWE class, can propose a book.

Two on my shelf I've been putting off anyway are The DevOps Handbook (writing style is 💤) and Clean Code (lol, but maybe there's more appropriate). Wondering what the community would recommend, maybe something more release process focused? Can't go full product focused cause it's still a SWE class.

After a final interview, how many days after can I expect an answer from the recruiter?

At the end of the interview, the person told me I passed the interview and they were going to talk to the Director who’s a level under them. It’s a yes for them and they’re happy to work with me.

I also sent my references. I don’t know when I can expect an reply. Recruiters from that company aren’t really organised

Hey folks. 3 YOE, working in tech at a great company, and making 135K TC in Austin.

Have an admit at Columbia and received 30K in aid each year, so I anticipate paying 110K in tuition. With cost of living in upper Manhattan, estimating an additional 35K each year, so 180K total cost.

I want to stay in tech post MBA, but explore faang companies and product roles. Is this worth the cost? I figure I could make a jump in comp at least?
