How to get this experience. My company won’t let me transition into this role. That’s not an option. Any insight into how I could get a bit of relevant experience here? I am ready to put any required effort into this to make it happen. Please provide some guidance

I think you’re going to experience more ambiguity and interact with even more and senior stakeholders as a PM. Is this something you can work to improve on?

Reach out to PMs you know or get introductions to mutual friends. Use this as an opportunity to learn more about the job and to ideally secure referrals. It then comes down to interview prep. Breaking into product is challenging, your backup plan can be a product-adjacent role like product analytics then do an internal transfer once you’ve built credibility. I went from consulting to product analytics then PM. I think you can turn your business analytics background into a superpower for you. Cover my experience here: productlessons.xyz

Hi Ladies! I’m transitioning to a manager of a team I’ve been leading. There’s been a lot of turnover with the team and I feel like I’m having a hard time getting the team to see me more as an authoritative figure. For example, when I ask for volunteers on a simple task, no one replies. Should I just resort to assigning rather than asking? Also are there leadership books you suggest that I could read up on? Thank you!
