My advice is to set your 401k to a target date fund or a plain index stock fund (find the cheapest option) and not look at the performance more than once per year. It’s money you shouldn’t need until retirement, and a lot can happen in markets in the span of decades — but the money will grow over time. Best not to get caught up in the ups and downs. Hope this is helpful.
Mine is down 24%. I am very aggressive in large cap, mid and small cap. Just view it as an opportunity when you put more in that you’re buying at a bigger discount. I look forward to down markets
Thanks. That's good to know. I work at a mid cap fintech company and I agree that they're growing quickly
Mine is down about the same. Target fund. Inhale, exhale, think long term.
Find and asset allocation model in line with your risk tolerance and don’t look at it.
Part of me feels like this time this correction is something else ... slow drips down , with little teases of up days and new recent lows . Something feels off. I am glad I have a decent amount of cash .
I’m 401k down 27%. My brokerage down 50%. My crypto down 36%. My expense up 18%. I’m just riding it out. Total unrealized loss of 200K at 22 y/o (worked my ass off in college - paid it all myself with scholarships and work). So honestly, you should really just chill and keep averaging.
Sam sitch with half the portfolio size and I’m unemployed, :(
Yep ⬆️⬆️⬆️ make sure you have scheduled some automatic buys into assets that make sense for your horizon and lock yourself out of your account for a while or lose your password or something.
Work with an advisor or just buy into some target fund date which will naturally de risk itself over time. Volatility is normal, take advantage when market falls and buy more, it will only benefit you long term.
13% isn’t fun but it could be a lot worse
I wouldn't worry a bit unless you're retiring soon. Those aren't your prices; they are conveniently printed for those interested in selling today. Yours haven't been printed yet.
Thank you all for the tips! I appreciate it!
