Got a job offer at Deloitte for manager level. Looking for a summary of benefits. I know 401k match but is there a waiting period, do you have something like pwc’s wealth builder. What is parental leave? What is the phone benefit? (Pwc subsidizes phone and pays plan). Health insurance I assume is crap but who is it through? Any random benefits that stick out to you that other firms might not have?

I am a big believer that there is a right job for everyone at the right time. If you think it's impacting your family- choose your family. I stayed in a go nowhere job for 5 years when my daughter was first born to focus on my family. Took a job in consulting. Now I have a second child and they want me home more. I am planning to reintegrate to industry. Never mistake someone else's idea of success for your own
@A3- ugh yea I did. I have a great career, I have a wonderful relationship, I love my parents I'm super proud of all my dad did for me. I'm telling you from the point of view from that kid, I never meant to hurt his feelings and I cherished every weekend I spent with my dad bc he wasn't home during the week. Honestly just because you may feel guilty as long as you're involved via phone and weekends I can tell you as that kid, it's not like a long lasting impression you're not there.
"Where's daddy?", I asked. "At work.", she said. Goodbye consulting, I'm done. Some things are just more important.
Talked to my wife and we're in agreement. My annual bonus gets paid out on the 31st and my resignation will be submitted the following Monday. My daughter is 3 so this can be fixed. What a wake up call.
Just add your picture to it. NBD
OP, wtf?! Send it back with comments. She needs to fix it and make necessary changes by EOD
If you don't want these mistakes to happen again, you should ask to review the draft earlier in the process.
I hear you OP... The other Sunday I was putting my son to bed. I told him I had to go and would come back on Thursday. He asked if I was mad at him. He's almost 3. So yeah, very tough to deal with...
Eff it man - kids > everything
M2- you clearly didn't. Otherwise you would empathize like everyone else.
I did the same to my Dad I wrote a "book" called mommy and me when I was in kindergarten. He didn't change his job and turned out ok, just FYI.
Good for you OP.. best of luck with everything
If I did things based on my kids drawings or perspective... I'd not work and be rich. Kids have no perspective other than their self-centric view.
I respect the OPs post, but may I suggest ensuring you look around and find a job you're excited about prior to just quitting.
As a a parent of 2, that's a tough to read
Awe :(
Yeah some sects of this industry are lifeless with the amount of hours. Sad thing is many hours are for "optics" 😢
I actually recently left for the same reason. Ill take a comfy industry job to be with my kids over all of the travelling, per diem and points. Though i really liked the points.
My daughter's friends asked her if I was dead.
Kids aren't for me personally but fuck yeah! This story is bomb!
I know a similar story some SM shared. His wife asked their son "where is daddy?" And the kid pointed at the picture on the wall while the guy was standing right there ! That was his wake up call
I'll cru
