Do they know your current salary? If not tell them you can make it work for X. X being 80 percent raise not 50. Or whatever your no regret number is. Everyone has one.
50% is a lot. Why not take it while you look for another job?
Yeah, but 50% is a lot. These offers don't come every day and if they're willing to poach you I'm sure they will also smooth out any visa issues. Going to work for a client and being poached is actually a really really good story to tell.
If you make.more than 70k currently, 50% puts you over 100. Make the move. That's my advice
Good luck
You would not be "betraying" your team. I don't know where you work, but I bet you are not the first person to leave during a project, and you won't be the last. Your team will figure out how to survive without you, and if they can't, that's the fault of senior engagement management who is paid to handle this kind of stuff, not you.
Been on great teams at D, but yet to be on one I would give up a 50% raise for. Can’t wait :)
No
What's your current base? I can see passing up $80k to $120k since other jobs paying around $120k are relatively easy to find.
You haven’t signed a non compete?
C2 correct. They’re not gonna enforce it on a C (no offense).
My manager jumped to the client on a long term engagement and I still work with them & hand off deliverables. Its weird how little changed
Actually, visa transfer will take time. So, it is not like you are leaving in 2 weeks. It will take anywhere from 2-4 months if you say yes to client. How long is long term? What will you do for the client after current engagement? 50% is a good raise and you can always move back to consulting after 2-3 years. Industry experience will look good on your profile.
Do it. Also remember that even though you are working with your former team, you are no longer incentivized by their firm’s performance cycle. Asked to work late? Plan a team event? Sorry, speak to my manager about overtime. The dynamics change and the little stressors that are put on by consulting cos are not longer yours
I have not brought this up with my team. I know they are all extremely busy and wouldn't want extra things to distract them. This is also not going to help me get higher base in my current firm as I very recently just had a raise. But I'm not sure what to say to my client and whether this situation should be treated just the same way as if they are not my client. I'm fairly junior in my career and this is the first time I face this issue. Any advice would be much appreciated!
