Missing the days he would put me to sleep when I was hyperactive and couldn’t get myself to sleep. :(
And our cute doggo who always wanted to sleep bw us. Sigh
It's amazing to me that Facebook is heading into the mid-term elections and won't have someone running point on security. Why are they refusing to acknowledge and address this problem? https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/19/technology/facebook-alex-stamos.html?smid=tw-nytimes&smtyp=cur
How to break the phone habit???
I was never a big phone gal (forgetting it at home ignoring it for hours) until COVID. It hit 6 months after my husband lost his dad and he has always been pretty screen dependent. Because shit was heavy and I didn’t want to push (plus I was locked inside with him) I just started echoing his habit of picking up my phone.
I went into private practice this year and I have a TERRIBLE habit of picking up my phone when stressed. I HATE it. (con’t)

I am going through my first appraisal. If I get a 3.5 rating, will that be rounded to a 3 or a 4?
I’m thinking about accepting a job at Gulfstream in Savannah, GA. Does anyone know the pay range of Gulfstream? The posting is for a Engineer Technical Specialist 1
I am in the salary negotiation phase with Infosys

I am having negotiations with a start up company, that i dont wish to join. Is it unethical to accept offer letter and then not join. The letter would help me in negotiations in other companies.
No poach agreements (i.e., we agree not to solicit each other’s employees) in customer contracts are a no-no for antitrust reasons, right? A customer is pretty adamant that they want it in but I feel like this is black and white. Would love to know if any of you are seeing them in your customer contracts and whether you’re including “unless prohibited by law” type of language to CYA.
My manager consistently makes condescending remarks about my work even though I’m overworked and prioritize what is urgent. I regularly work 12-13+ hours a day but never receive any confirmation or recognition that I’m doing a good job and there is always something to criticise.
How should I approach speaking to my manager about this toxic environment?
I’m the only woman on my team and have noticed my manager does not speak to my male colleagues with the same tone
Hi All, could anyone share the salary range for an experienced senior strategy consultant at Slalom Consulting in their Toronto office?
Why have unions become so powerless in recent years? A decade ago, the collective bargaining units would get wage increases that matched or exceeded inflationary growth. Now we are lucky to see any positive integer offered.
Realistically, if they are merely securing my job for $100/month they are not providing value! I can protect my own job, AND pay for a decent retirement with that money saved.
Any non-MBB find PE ops opportunities pre mba? Where would you find opportunities posted? Or should I reach out to headhunters
I am interested in creating a supper club in Los Angeles where people can meet and interact through food- do you think it could be of any interest?
How can I go from a 65k year 14 hr day to making money streaming.. I have 3000 tik tok followers and 4000 meetme
I accepted an offer! Wondering what comes next. Very interested in the remote onboarding process.
I tend to find gay guys in big cities (SF, LA) are less attractive than small towns (like SLC, Denver). Is it just me or everyone?

How do my fellow litigators deal with hearings that don’t go so well? Whether you fumble over your words, don’t make all the points you wanted to make, or the judge is annoyed and/or gives a bad ruling, etc. I just had a hearing this morning where the judge granted my motion but only after acting annoyed and coming very close to denying it. Now I am replaying in my head what I could’ve done differently and kind of beating myself up. Does this happen to any anyone else?
That moment when your "smart" plan to boost your hours this month by working the Labor Day weekend (thus turning down all the fun plans your friends made) becomes sitting on your hands & feeling dumb because all the partners are too busy to delegate anything. The worst kind of "off" day is one you planned to /wanted to work, but there's no billable work...
Advice for tackling a backlog of assignments? Been absolutely swamped and the list gets longer every day. Have had active deals to prioritize and the partners understand but there is now a spreadsheet full of things I owe that are growing urgent and I need to refocus my efforts intelligently.
Can anyone speak to culture of the EC/VC and M&A groups at WSGR? Looking at remote positions. Thanks!
Apps for keeping track of billable hours?
Is $70,000/year, requiring 1600 billable hours, with a $4K bonus if I make the billable hours requirement, reasonable for family law?
The practice is 10-20 people; 5 attorneys if I join. In the suburb of Atlanta, GA.
Second year associate here and I still translate "POS" to "piece of shit" instead of "proof of service" 🙃
Currently doing ID (car accidents, premises, general negligence). Although I am doing higher exposure cases, running entire litigation dockets on my own, and doing some more complex work, I just feel that I am stuck making crap money the rest of my life. Just now entering my second year. I only get considered at other ID firms. I need to leave but no success. I have things to pay and I just feel that I am stuck making no money forever.
For those of you that transferred law schools— do you keep both schools on your resume indefinitely for the rest of your career? What is the norm? TIA!
I feel like my billable hourly rate is way too low. I know I’m only a second year at a boutique firm but for some clients I’m billed at only $175. I also have an MBA - am I crazy to think my hour should be “worth” more?
My husband and I are considering a move from New York to Virginia in the next 3 years. I can waive into the VA bar but I’d be interested to know if anyone else has moved states and how difficult it was to reestablish your legal career. I’m currently licensed in New York and California and will have been practicing for 10 years by the time we move. Thanks!
Does anyone have any insight on Tressler LLP?
How do you deal with a client who is changing the facts half way through discovery? Obviously can’t give any more details but the entire narrative is changing and the complaint and all of our discovery responses are based on the previous facts.
The partner I work with told me that we haven’t entered our notice of appearance yet, so our time to respond to the complaint has not yet run. Please help me to understand this....
I’m interested in taking on a Pro Bono case through a nonprofit org, so should I disclose that I’m taking the case to my current employer (in house)? The case has no overlap with the field my company is in and I’ll be doing the work off the clock.
Brand recommendations for a solid standing desk?
I need to submit a writing sample for a job. I am going to redact names and whatnot. However, my name isn't on the pleading even though I drafted it. Still ok to submit ?
The billing guidelines for my client say they will not pay for parking or speeding tickets if you get one on a trip for them (I’m serious). Every warning has a story to tell, but I guess this is why people don’t like lawyers?

Megyn Kelly is the only person who comes to mind.
In my experience, you could:
1) write blogs/op-eds on legal news of the day;
2) connect with reporters who report on the legal news you write about;
3) if the topic becomes relevant again, they might interview you for an article or even in podcasts.
After that, it’s really about whether network bookers know about you and are willing to book you.
This is very helpful, thank you!
Harvey Levin and Jerry Springer did news.
Savannah Guthrie is a lawyer and started on CourtTV.
OP, what’s your background?
Adjunct in a sexy practice area at an LA or NYC law school so you show up when those reporters/booking interns Google “election law expert” or “cannabis law expert” or whatever. I’m convinced that’s how a couple of my profs ended up as cable news talking heads lol.
Wow I never even thought of that! Very true honestly
Just do it. Live stream it on IG/FB, clip the best parts for tik tok or whatever. Post these on your socials and LinkedIn. Wham, bam, build your brand.
You’re so right. The hardest part is taking the plunge and not being afraid to fail on it. Thank you!
I’m at a small shop and my bosses regularly anchor and/or appear on two major cable news networks. Boss A is/was politically connected and pretty sure he got Boss B into the scene. I don’t know how they linked up w the news outlets first.
They’ve asked me to consider getting my feet wet in my niche areas so I might. I’m more of a face for radio prob. I guess it’s just networking.
