Am I tripping? Everyone loves calling my daughter (2 months) "lil chocolate drop" or "look at all that chocolate". I love my daughter's complexion, not only because it's mine, but because it's beautiful. However, I can't help but feeling like ppl "other" or make it weird by avoiding saying dark. Calling her dark is acceptable and appreciated. I know "chocolate" comes from a place of affection, but I just can't embrace it 💯.
Any sober/ non-drinkers here? I’ve struggled to find new groups of friends since i quit drinking. Any advice on groups, etc would be appreciated! (SF based)

Looking for relationship advice: I got married 18 months ago. It wasn't an arranged marriage at all but we had done long distance for a long time before we got married so hadn't lived together or even been in the same city for more than a few weeks at a time for a few years before getting married. Now, that we have been married, I don't feel like I am that attracted to her physically/ intellectually. To give context, a lot of people will and do call her attractive& fun...(continued in comments)

After 4+ weeks of quarantine, wife says I use the word "caveat" way too many times at work. I'm like, my whole dang job is a big caveat
Any tips on how to encourage a friend to actually take action to get in better shape rather than just talk/complain about his weight? Trying to be supportive, but getting sick of listening to the complaining with no changes made. Thanks 🐠!

Once I proposed an open relationship to my LDR boyfriend and he said no because he didn’t want anyone else. Found out later on he was incessantly cheating. I laugh every time I remember because I still cannot believe the audacity.
GF and I are having major issues stemming around my family not liking her. Got into a major fight Friday and haven't spoken since. She said she's having doubts and questioning the whole relationship. Today's our one year...what can I possibly say. Don't know what she's expecting

I've been working remotely for the past two years, and it's been great. I love working from home and being able to watch my kids grow up through their eyes as they play around me. But sometimes, when you're in this kind of situation, it's hard to know what to talk about with your coworkers.
I have a grandparent who is a toxic narcissist. He is my only living grandparent. I will be inviting all aunts and uncles to our wedding. However, after watching my grandparent make my sister's wedding completely about him and try to get involved, although my sister did not want that, I do not want to invite him. Any advice?
Any expats here face pushback from your family for moving to a different country? They always try to shame me for moving so far away around the holidays...
I’m in need of some advice for my bridal shower. I’m trying to condense the list to help my mom & bridesmaids. We are inviting my fiancés coworkers and their significant others to the wedding. I’ve hung out with the couples a few times, but I wouldn’t say they are really friends outside of work events for him. Is it rude to not invite the wives to the shower? One of their husbands is in the wedding so I would invite her, but is it an all or no one situation?
If you could go back and start over would you still choose this path? Or would you choose a different career and/or a different time to have children? I accidentally became a working parent in law so while I love my job and my children I don't think I would have planned it quite like this.
Send kids to private school or move to a 10/10 school area? The average price of home is $1 mill in good areas... rent is $4000. Private school in my sub urban area is $1200 per month for 1 kid. I only have 1 kid right now but planning 1 more in next 2 years

My husband never reads and wants to start reading as a new hobby. What is a good book that you would recommend for a 40 year old man? Not self help books, but maybe something with action. I think he would like the Bourne series, but he saw all the movies so he's not interested, but something similar.

Every day of my life feels the same. The monotony of my job and taking care of the young kiddos is just the same over and over. I love my kids dearly (my job not so much) but I think this never ending repetition is impacting my mental health. Anyone else go through similar feelings or have any advice?
How would you respond to this note sent home on my toddler’s daily report from her in-home daycare provider. Mind you she didn’t say anything to me in person about this. Plus my daughter started saying “no daycare, no friends” when we tell her it’s time to go / ask her if she wants to see her friends.
Anyone has an alternative to an Au Pair. Wife and I were looking forward to host an au pair but can’t go through the official program since we are not permanent residents yet. Debating when to have the first baby… would you say having a baby is totally worth it ? Worth all the struggles and sacrifices? Or should I wait an extra year just to save more money and enjoy life now without the extra sacrifices… (female 27 & want to have 2 kids)
Our 5 month old started daycare about 5 weeks ago. We’ve already had to keep her home for 2.5 of those 5 weeks due to catching various illnesses (croup, rsv, brinchiolitis, etc). Both my wife and I have been sick most of that time as well (gotten it from the baby). Wife is thinking we get a full time nanny for the next 4 months to help the baby build antibodies. Cost aside, is this feasible / worthwhile to go thru the effort / finding the right fit, only for 4 months?

First time Dad and my 15 month old keeps running up the stairs at my in-laws place and they keep encouraging it. Stairs are almost 10 inches high with nothing underneath and I’m worried that he might slip and fall in between the stairs. My FIL is a bit of a know-it-all and keeps insisting it’s safe and I don’t agree. What do I do? Don’t want to fight the entire house full of people about this and kid enjoys it too much and cries a lot if I/we prevent him from climbing
We recently sleep trained our 7 month son. He went from waking up multiple times during night and taking only 30 minute naps 3 times during day (most cases nursed to sleep or rocked to sleep or took a drive) to sleeping 12 hours at night without interruption and two 2 hour naps and one 45 minutes nap during day. We both love that he is getting enough sleep and well rested on one hand. On the other hand, we are now wondering if he is sleeping way too much.. contd…

Any parents who are still on the safe side with Covid? We have a 1 year old and being safe and staying mostly home is really getting to me. Most of our friends have kids who are able to mask up or are vaccinated and it’s getting quite isolating. Dads with older children: while raising your children, did your children prefer their moms over you? I know some will prefer dads over moms, but I assume majority of children out there will prefer their moms over dads… I have one child and it kinda hurts to see my child always preferring the mom over me. I know I shouldn’t feel this way, but I just do. How did you cope with such issue raising your children?

Every kid / parent is different, but for reference our 6 month old is in daycare from 8-5 and handles it fine.
If you can't engage him at home better send his to school, kids at this age need interaction, that's how they learn. But if you have time or help, preferably 8 to 3 is what most preschool programs are
