My experience at Golin Chicago was one of the worst of my career. I’m still dealing with the after effects and PTSD. It makes my doubt my ability every day even though I think I’m doing well at my job

Director 1, why bothering commenting on a post that is clearly vulnerable? It lacks the professional maturity that is expected of our title. OP, hang in there. Other people's poor behavior is not an indication of your self worth. You'll get through this. Process the emotions, sit with them, and then make a conscious decision to get up and move on. You got this!

It took me about a year to get over my terrible ex-agency and break through the bad habits I developed in a year there. I believe you’re truly dealing with anxiety from your experience, just want to let you know it does seem to slowly fade.

So sorry to hear. Congrats on gathering the courage to leave. Don’t let a place like Golin (or any company) take away your self worth.

I left over a year ago, thanks for the support all. Just wanted to give a bit of warning to others about what I viewed as a terrible experience with a horrible director. She knows what she did.

I know the feeling too well with a smaller agency in Chicago. Was it your colleagues? Clients?

Feel the same about this place. At least you were brave enough to leave. So down I can't even bring myself to do that.

Belittled me to my face, behind my back, in front of others and made fun of my disability. Kept me from going on vacations, micromanaged, yelled at me, etc. But did so with just enough “cover” that I didn’t realize what was happening until it was too late. I even tried to go to HR about it, when it first began but they kind of blew it off. Their HR team, however, is a joke. I was so damaged by the experience that I didn’t even pursue action after I walked out of the job one day.

So sorry to hear this! I work at Golin and although it’s not a perfect place, I really love the people and the agency. I wish the new management knew about your horrible supervisor experience. So sorry for how things worked out for you. Take care of yourself and heal! That’s most important.

To be clear, my experience want at Golin. But any place that not a match can do this to you.

Wow. So sorry to hear that. What was the problem there exactly? Transparently: I interviewed with them and was considering doing so again. Also, I stayed at a company for almost a decade and had a horrible experience. It seems like a distant memory now, and it continues to fade with time. Good luck in your healing process. Be kind to yourself!
