My experience letter for the CPA license only states my full time start but not my internship dates (I have 10 months full time experience + 2 months internship). Do you think it’ll still be accepted?

It should include your internship time. Ask your HR to get it right

You need to show your full year of experience. So if your experience letter doesn’t show a full year, you need a supplemental letter to show the incremental period.

Some states do not count internships as experience. My state only accepts experience after you meet the education requirement

like

Ok so you passed the exams, for your bonus so what’s the hurry for license. I would recommend waiting few months and then applying for it. But if you really really want to apply now ask for updated experience letter. I had my manager sign mine since he was a CPA so check with your manager or who ever you work with and are CPA. I don’t think you need to involve HR unless you have left firm and not working with a CPA and really need those two months for license.

California could be little different but if the form says that a CPA need to sign it who you worked for, I would go to the manager or someone who is a CPA you worked with but it upto you. Good luck Op and Congrats on passing the exams.

How much experience is required in your state?

1 year

Wrong GT1!! It’s very prestigious. Get it now OP

I know Texas won’t give you experience credit for an internship if you received college credit for the internship. Just as an FYI - I don’t know where you are and it could be different. I had a partner sign mine and didn’t involve HR. I filled it out and they just checked it before signing off for me. Every office and company is different though on how to go about filling out those forms.

Just wait two months dude

What’s the difference between having it now vs getting it in 3 months if you don’t intend to switch jobs?

Prestige now!!!

Did you get college credit for your internship? Because I’ve heard some states won’t accept the internship time if it was also for college credit. But if it wasn’t, then you should be good.

GT1 and TA1: By that logic, why not wait a few years?

I think it’s best to wait as long as the state allows. The hardest part is passing the exams. In my state they require you to get certified within 60 days of meeting all requirements. Which is why I say a few months vs a few years. Just for the record I did mine right away but in hindsight would have waited to avoid a few months of CPE requirements.

I recently left a pretty good summer internship to take a full time job and I regret it. I have been losing sleep over it all summer. And after remote work ends, the job would be in a high cost of living city as well. Due to this, I am looking at switching jobs again. I feel terrible about starting my career as a job hopper. Despite getting interviews at good companies, nothing is making me feel better about this situation. I don’t know how to handle the thoughts racing in my mind.
