I second that OP, but at the same time my fear is that in this environment such things as nepotism and favoritism can go completely unchecked and we are just blissfully ignorant of our loss of opportunity because “what we don’t see can’t hurt us”. (It can and will). The break from office politics has been nice but the truth is that all the BS didn’t evaporate, we just can no longer see it and call it out.

A1 not being antagonistic either. Simply attempting to unpack the point you’re making. Indulge me. How is working in the traditional office setting directly connected to you getting an opportunity to work on a high-profile deal, being invited to a client relationship events, or being promoted?

Last week I tested out working in the office again for the first time since last March. I thought I would love it again. I ended up hating every second of it- wasting time on commute, paying for parking, no where to eat, office was lonely, water cooler talk wasted my productivity. It was exhausting to be “on” in person the entire time. I couldn’t bring myself to go back this week. I didn’t realize wfh allows me to enjoy my job and gives me the time to balance life and friends outside of my job.

Sometimes travel is not easy like it should be. I had a $1200 credit (b class flight from Paris to NY) from American Airlines that I was told was good for any trip. After 30+ hours between call backs and different desks, they tell me because the trip originated in euros I can only apply it in the US. Fine, but then after another hour on hold, I hear that it can only be redeemed in person at a ticket counter in Paris. I live in NY. Was never told of these stipulations before. Never again AA
