My firm flaunts about being involved in the community and giving back. Offices across the country do a day of service where attys and staff do community service. There is a fee/cost for the volunteer activities and the attys are responsible for paying for it.

Now I strongly believe in donating for different causes but this seems strange that a big firm that flaunts about giving back can’t even pay for the meager volunteer cost for each office. Is this normal at other firms?

Yeah, agreed. My office does a big drive each year for an organization that a couple partners are on the board of, and they make a big deal about it and basically coerce you into donating. The minimum suggested amount to donate is $250 and they set up teams and make it a competition so that your team members will harass you into donating. And they shame you until the office is at near 100% participation.
I’m all for charity and making donations, but I don’t like the coercive feel of it in this case and would rather donate to charities that I specifically care about. Plus, couldn’t the firm make its own donation? Lol

My thoughts exactly. In this instance, two of my billable hours pays the entire volunteer fee for this event. So again it’s not the cost, it’s the voluntold and then the firm taking credit for it…

Hi fishes
Need suggestion. Got an offer with a product company A through referrel with just 70% hike. They initially told me to not look for any offer as it is a referral.

Now, I got another offer with around 150% in another product company B. Joining date in both are by next week. How to politely reject the offer from Company A ( they won't match the new offer). I am afraid if there is any consequences.

Now giving interview with Chubb, Will Chubb match this offer?

Please guide me 🙏

I took a big step today in my life. I signed up for therapy, and had my first session. It was good. It was definitely tough talking about the past and my mistakes, but I feel so much better. I know I can get help and be successful. I’ve proved people wrong before. I’m definitely a work in progress, but I’m proud that I’m taking the first step in being a better person, coworker, leader and friend. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. You never have to do it alone.

Any ZScaler Commercial AEs here?

Just got a call about a 96k base:
/160k OTE role out of Plano TX

I’m intrigued but I want to know 2 things:
1. Culture/WLB - how is it?
2. Realistic market opportunity/opportunity to crush quota (obv dependent on many things)

Background: Currently making 95k/160k OTE at a boutique research and consulting firm. I’m happy but we’re extremely flat with little to no opp for promotion in the next 2+ years.

Burned out mid-level here, anyone else?? Billed 1400 hours over the last six months, nearly 300 in March. It’s got me feeling not-enough/inadequate and feeling in a funk/depressed/anxious. Trying to decide whether to stick with it to see if things reset as the workload normalizes, or if it’s time for a fresh start elsewhere.
