My firm is staying open but I’m a litigator- state and fed courts are closing, most of my depos and appearances have been canceled. My Q1 billing bonus cutoff is the end of the month and I’m SCREWED.

RIP your bonus.

Hang in there!!! It will all be over soon enough

Right. Our semiannual bonus ends in may and I was counting on a big billing March. Bonus won't be as great but at least it aligns with husband's yearly bonus

like

I wish my depos and hearings were getting cancelled. I still have court appearances. Have a jury trial supposedly starting next week but I can’t imagine it’s actually going to go. Another case with trial in 45 days and tons of depos to do, nobody else seems to care to cancel.

So sad. I hope you’re able to get by on the other $300,000 you make this year! 🙃

Currently have Series 24, 7, 63,65

Currently work in a very unique Wealth Management ops role.

Getting paid 85k base with 40k in bonus plus about 35k~ in OT.

Money isn’t everything but in my late 20s it feels like the only thing important right now.

WLB is next to zero as 60hr weeks are the minimum as of late. Management feels like they are trying to push a few of us out. Was told not to expect much come year end for comp. Any suggestions on finding a new role/pay expectations?

For those expecting twins, where have you bought maternity work attire? I don’t go in the office often; however, I’m at the almost out of my current clothes stage at 18 weeks and think I’ll need some clothes. I feel like I’d have maybe another week or two in my stretchy jeans or my tops that are already a little flowy ( used to be flowy on my pre pregnancy frame lol). Thank you for any help!

Advice to young lawyers. Read a book.

I saw the thread about savings and many young lawyers (20s and 30s) don’t know how to open up a brokerage account or invest in their 401k. I know they don’t teach personal finance in school (though they should!), but my advice is that you should go to your local library and read a book about the subject. You have the skills necessary but you must invest in yourself. No one will look out for you.
