Keep your showing off in the in-house bowl :(

I’m also in-house and I just stopped working for the day at 11pm. So much pressure from the business to get things done before the end of the year. Can I jump ship to your company?

Well, I just had a 75 page foreign nation office lease dumped on me because one of our international attorneys is now out of the office unexpectedly. So no need to be jealous any more! (I guess I kinda had that coming.)

I work for a firm that represents public school districts. I get two weeks of paid vacation every year. The firm closes because the schools are closed and nobody is calling. It’s not a big law salary but working the school law hours is where it’s at!!

My boyfriend of 3 years broke up with me yesterday (he moved back home recently, we were doing long distance, and he decided he wanted to focus his time on rebuilding relationships with family/friends he lost touch with). Do any of you have tips of coping with heartbreak while also trying to manage work? I have too much on my plate to take time off, but I’m worried my focus isn’t going to be there on Monday.

How much leeway do you have when negotiating start dates? I would like to start in Jan since I save most of my PTO for the holidays. If I start in Nov/Dec I either won’t be able to take it or will start in a hole. Plus new job offers WAY less PTO (VP thought it was 10 days to start vs my current 25, but am currently waiting for formal offer from HR).

How do you manage sleep when traveling with a toddler? My daughter just turned two and she had been sleep trained and is an excellent sleeper BUT only sleeps in her own crib. I rock her until she falls asleep and put her in her crib. But this has to be in her room. If I rock her in my bedroom, she won't fall asleep. I want to take a vacation and I'm really afraid that she won't fall asleep in the hotel and will cry a lot. She sort of understands when we talk to her so I can communicate...

Holiday gift exchange at work (virtual, so we’ll be mailing things to people’s houses like a secret Santa). $20-30 suggested price range. I was thinking of sending a 45 miscellaneous assortment pack of little snacks, like a bag of cheez it’s, rice krispy treats, cookies, granola bar, nuts etc. Yay / nay?

I am having the hardest time in my life. Depression and anxiety have become unmanageable from the pressure to bill with only a ten vacation day policy. I don’t sleep anymore. I cry every single day. My body physically aches from the lack of sleep and pure state of stress I’m constantly in. Any encouragement? Something?

Is it bad to have basic salary less compared to flexible pay. If the basic is 30% of gross, it's a government rule to have basic as 40 - 50% of gross which the company is not following and not ready to change the structure. I heard the advantage as in hand salary will be more in that case. But what are the disadvantages of this.
