Hi ladies!
I have my video interview with Liberty Mutual tomorrow for a licensed customer service role. Oddly, this morning I get an invitation to interview with Farmers for a claims customer service associate. I know the salary for the LM role, but not the Farmers role. Does anyone have experience with either? They are both great companies and I want to make sure I’m planting my feet with the right one. Thank you!Liberty Mutual Insurance Farmers Insurance Group

Ask yourself why you pursued the position in the first place. If you are happy where you are, did someone convince you that you should want more - whether more money or more prestige? Did someone pressure you? Follow your gut on this one. 😊
Thank you for your input. No one pressured me at all. The role opened up and my firm encouraged existing staff to consider growing within the company. Considering how the other people in these roles at my firm have been in those roles for quite some time, that tells me they must enjoy or otherwise derive satisfaction from them. Plus the thought of doing high-pressured litigation full time for the rest of my career is daunting; I don’t mind doing it part time but I definitely want to transition away from it.
Would you be unhappy in the new role or does it scare you? A friend of mine who is a big-time corporate consultant once told me that it’s normal (and probably even good) to be a little bit afraid. That’s stretching. If you think you’d be unhappy, withdraw from consideration.
It scares me, not only the fear of failing to do a good job but also the fear of being dissatisfied in the new gig but unable to return to the old one, since they would have to replace me and then the position would be filled. I’m going to do the interview regardless at this point and worry about it later if I get an offer.
What is your current position?
I’m a managing attorney.
Could be complacency. If you think it’s possible, then likely is. My recommendation is to keep climbing the corporate ladder. I’m learning to be a leader means taking my head out of the day to day and focusing more on the coaching. It’s hard, but somewhat fulfilling and the only way to the top.
I agree that this would be the next step in my career and I don’t want to be stuck in the role of just a worker bee for the rest of my career. It’s not that I dislike my current gig, but I do know that I don’t want to be in this role until retirement, which is the reason why I applied. Granted retirement is at least 20 years away, but after being an attorney for 14 years, and 20 years in the legal field, I feel this is the natural progression in my career path.
Perhaps as far as the interview is concerned, convince yourself that you really want the job first. Once an offer is on the table then you can decide whether to go for it or to pass it up. :)
You’re right, I’ve decided to do the interview now and the overthinking later if I’m offered the position. Thank you!
