My fishbowl techies. What are your thoughts on splunk?

Licensing is a pain, no question. However - and this is a big one - the value of Splunk is in helping people with comp sci degrees explain advanced/tech concepts to c-suite folks. Laugh all you want, but those charts and graphs are how we justify our rates a lot of the time.

Expensive as all hell....jesus...even if they offered free handys every month...it would still be way too

It is like the apple watch, cool tech, why exactly do I need it- and is it the best way to spend my tech dolla tea

DoD is a big fan

Bought 25k during IPO, hoping for some good returns.

How much does it do out of the box? I hear it requires a ton of customization...

Expensive, but very useful if you know how to use it. Try sensu / grafana for open source monitoring.

Agree with maxmusterman and D1. Many organizations are not ready for something this advanced and acquiring splunk wouldn't add any value. It's pretty and flashy right now. Anyone see any organizations get real value out of it? Ive seen only one, it was a SIFI

Accenture has a ton of Splunk work. It must be selling to a certain extent.

Is it slunk work that is being sold, or is splunk a part of the stack which would have been sold regardless

Hi Fishes ,
I got an opportunity from Axtria as a Senior Associate/ Lead - BIM. BIM is one of the Axtria's business vertical.

I've cleared all rounds of interviews including final HR round and salary discussion and at last HR told me that he will get back to me with next steps. It's been over a week, I did not get any response. I have called HR and he said he is checking with internal team and getback to me.

Anyone from Axtria or past employees have any idea for this kind of situation?

Thanks

Recently Store Managers have been offering me jobs from different locations but same company in my town. The company is T-Mobile. It’s going to be my first job. I have a couple questions for any former/current employees. Is it better to work for T-Mobile, metro by T-Mobile, or a third party T-Mobile? Any difference in benefits or wage? Thanks

Nearing the end of the interview process for a DevOps engineer role with salesforce. Before I get to the conversation with Hr, I am curious what salary + bonus to aim for as a mid tier with 3 years experience. Do they offer the option to get shares and a lower salary or is that no longer on the table?

Business casual, or more resort for meetings and events? (I have zero intention of wearing a bathing suit at any point.)

Clients with toxic cultures: how have you dealt with them? We have a compliance client with a serious culture issue- they regularly throw each other and our team under the proverbial bus, throwing escalations around etc. I am one of the junior partners and suggested having an open dialogue with our C-suite contact to discuss constructive ways of working, at the very least… but the senior partner has vetoed it. Our team morale is pretty bad and we’ve had a couple of people leave because of it.
