That’s….weird. If I were you I’d say no, unless she has some extremely compelling reason to need your car. Even then, I’d probably require her to be added to my car insurance policy.

Biggest risk is insurance implications. I’d cost it out to see what it would be to add her and then pass 100% of the insurance cost to your friend.

like

I would def add her as a driver to the insurance policy and write up a leasing agreement similar to what is used at a rental agency, including maintenance, mileage, interior/exterior damage, and gas. Sounds very logistical, but it's the best way to ensure neither person feels slighted. The expectations are clear and they are accountable if anything happens.

I like my car too much to do that. Additionally that is long enough that they could start to feel too at home in your car. Which could lead to them treating it poorly. If you do go that route make sure you get it back a few days a month just because.

like

Uber offers this service. You rent people’s cars from them. Maybe it’s not that strange? You would need to add her to your policy which may or may not alter the cost of the policy significantly. Have you rode with her before? What type of driver is she? Do you trust her?

We borrowed a car once from a friend over summer break during MBA. Needed it for internship, she didn't. We got on the insurance and paid that; it worked fine.

Partners won’t turn down more work despite the associate exodus. I get it. Firms are businesses. But, there will be consequences. Deadlines will be missed, things will be sloppy. PSA to associates: you’re the loser here because we are in a service profession and firms make profit off of how many hours they can squeeze out of us minus our fixed salary. Put yourself first because no one else will. To those who say it’s justified cause $$$, I say no job should require us to sacrifice our health.

I don’t own a car as I don’t need it on a daily basis and where I leave there is not a big need for it. I normally rent a car 2-4 days a month on the weekends which is much cheaper. My credit cards provide me with insurance for damage on the car but not for liability, I was thinking that getting a non-owners insurance would be better/cheaper than pay one at the rental Company every time. Any advice on this? Is it worth it? Any non-owner insurance recommendations? Thanks!!

22, healthy, single, M. Should I really max my HSA? I completely understand the triple tax savings but my thought process is I don’t think I’ll have a large med expense for a while. I know, I know, I know anything could happen but the likelihood is pretty low rn and I don’t want to lock this money up for solely health costs when I rather be saving for a house down payment or continued education. I still plan to contribute to it, but should I really max it out at my age??

Been severely struggling with depression and anxiety lately. Obviously this job is one big reason why. I opened up to the partner a few months back about it when I started missing random days when I couldn’t get out of bed. Maybe 2/3 days over the last 4 months total. This week he sat me down and told me he is worried about my mental health causing me to be a “liability” to the firm. I can’t stop thinking about this and don’t know how to turn it around.
