That just means they want you in a position that you didn’t apply for. Very good news for you.
Went through this exact same thing. The tea, from my experience, is that this interviewer had no real power to 'make anything happen' but will help facilitate getting your resume to different hiring managers if they think you're qualified for the role.
That said, I don't think this person is an advocate for you in any meaningful way. I hope that answers your question. Still, it's not something I'd blow off if you really want to work at Facebook.
Was it a channel specialist ? If yes, they are useless. I had the same thing happen, didn’t get the interview but they reached out. It doesn’t mean anything , they ask about your background and to let them know if you are interested in a position but they are usually not responsive and don’t care. It’s better to apply again via a referral in my opinion .
I asked this person about a position I was interested in, they didn’t reply for a while, asked my friend for a referral again and got the interview
Depends on positions. I was contacted by google and fb recruiters before (funny thing is pre MBA). My guess is that it’s more solid when dealing with technical role
Yeah they have an internal referrals coordinator that fills out an internal profile on your behalf to add to their database.
Yeah, this happened to me as well - I think it’s just their SOP, didn’t really lead to anything.
