She may go to grad school in a few years but hasn’t made up her mind yet. What would you recommend that she do with all this cash given she hasn’t made her decision on school yet?

like

A good problem to have! I would consider just keeping it in a high yield savings account so she has flexibility to go to grad school with significantly less debt. If she decides not to go, could start putting more into index funds.

Consider putting small amounts (like 1k) in index ETFs each month

This is what I was leaning towards recommending, especially since stocks are relatively cheap right now.

What does she do to be so comfortable in life ?

Help! Just learned that my parents (54 and 56) only have ~100k in their retirement account. Their house is currently worth ~800k with ~450k left to pay on the mortgage. Their income is ~200k combined. They insist that they’ll have enough to retire on with social security and after selling the house. However, I have a hard time believing this since the max monthly social security payout is ~3k per person which doesn’t even get close to the 70-80% replacement ratio. How screwed are they really?

I’m 30, with no kids, currently paying $540/mo for a whole life insurance policy through my advisor (family friend, mind you) at NWM. No debt, investing 2k a month into other more traditional investments (e.g., 401k, ira). I care less about the death benefit but I’ve been repeatedly reminded about the guaranteed RoR associated with the cash value - does this investment vehicle make sense to continuing with? TIA!

Currently mid twenties, and trying to take financing more seriously and would really appreciate some insight on how to allocate my income into savings! Make about roughly 70k a year (post-tax, no pre-tax contributions). I spent about $3,350 a month (~40k a year on rent, car loan, bills etc), so I have about roughly 30k to save annually. Obviously putting 6k into roth ira, and I need help with insight on how to allocate he remaining 24k between Roth 401k, emergency fund, personal saving, etc.
