My goal is to go into HR when I graduate. I have great internship experience for HR, I’m applying for jobs, and I was contacted by a recruiter for an HR Assistant role. Upon looking further into this role, it seems to be more of an Administrative Assistant role and I would report to the Director of Administration. The job is labeled HR Assistant on the recruiting page but the same one is labeled Administrative Assistant on the company page (can tell by the description). Is this a red flag?

If it's a smaller company, it may be a universal role. If you're looking for something that is more geared toward HR, then I'd probably keep looking.

I wouldn't say its a red flag, but I would be cautious of accepting roles that are not aligned with my career goals. In the past, I have accepted roles that were "close enough", which lead me into a cycle of being stuck in roles I was unhappy with.

I have to agree with this. I did the same exact thing! Just be careful!

Sounds like it may not be an HR focused role after all. I would potentially keep looking for something that will definitely align with what you want as a career. Not to say this job won't have any HR components, but I might hold out for something that was a bit more HR dominant.

Thank you all for your responses! I appreciate your insight

Any particular firms I should be eyeing and what level should I look to be hired at, C/SC, or other? Possibly ways to get my foot in the door, etc.

I am a field marketer. I travel and cover 12 states. HQ is across the US on the east coast. My manager put a surprise calendar invite twice now to go to home office without consulting dates to see if we were available. I stood up and asked to be included on available dates and said I will attend virtually but asking me to be away for 4 additional full days away from my family without asking me is not OK. I already travel a lot and this boundary is super important to me. Am I right or wrong?

I am a university senior in an English BA program. I am also turning 28 next month and have bills to pay.

I'm quickly discovering that English degrees won't get you a job beyond probably teaching, which I dont want to do. I also dislike sitting behind a desk all day.

I already want to change into a two year technical degree for something else.

What options are available for a career change? I'd like something that requires minimal schooling and pays decently. I'm thinking medical. Advice?
