Infosys hey fishes , kindly help me on this. I had my salary discussion 3 weeks back with infosys HR offered 50% +1.2L joining + pwfh. I have requested for 60% +1.2L joining bonus + pwfh and hr told me She will send for approval to see and she said it might take a week Max to get back. But it's been 3 week I got a call from hiring hr for screenshoot interview. Upon checking my approval for 60% is still waiting to be approved. Any idea what's happening. How long can I wait ?

You should report her to HR
This
First off, I am so sorry for your loss. Second, it is completely inappropriate for the manager to call you out like that. It should be enough that you have a family emergency, without details. I would consider filing an ethics complaint on the manager, but that part is your own call. Separately, I would reach out to your HR contact regarding the bereavement or leave that you might need so that they at least have your back if the manager gives you any more grief. I've been in a somewhat similar situation recently and been sure to keep all of the HR emails handy that clarified and approved the leave I needed.
Additionally, I just want to encourage you to take the time you need to grieve and be with your family. The stuff we do at work is not nearly as important as the lives we lead outside of it. And, as my career coach regularly reminds me--you are replaceable at work, you are not replaceable in your family.
Sending love, encouragement, and prayers.
BCG4 it’s not appropriate to ask about a family emergency in front of the whole team.
Not only did she ask if front of everyone but after I said it was a funeral she almost seemed to question it by saying “and that’s on Wednesday?” And I felt the need to even further explain that the funeral wasn’t on Wednesday but we were traveling that day, which only made her seem more annoyed like I’m purposely taking an inconvenient day off. I have no client meetings on Wednesday but it’s overall a busy time, which I understand but this isn’t something I scheduled. I’m just uncomfortable with the whole situation
You should be. And my next step would be to discuss with HR. Too many such events go unnoticed or we withhold reporting them because we may loose our job. Point is you had a loved one pass away. That is enough justification for you not be questioned further. Period.
May your grandma rest in eternal peace! Amen!

dm her info, I’d like to wish her a happy 2023
Hi, I was told I can get some toxic here?
Don't even need to see the rest. F*** that guy, start looking for a new job
Edit: sorry for your loss
Thats very surprising. Are you in strategy or operations? They very rarely ask us any questions when we say we need time off but unfortunately is a handful of rogue bad managers. I made the mistake of not following my gut instinct by reporting one and it came back to bite me later
Did the PM know that emergency meant Grandma ( May she rest is peace) passed away before they asked in front of everyone one? If yes, then yeah F them.
Also, sorry for your loss
SM3 shouldn’t the developer’s manger be able to reassign?
Toxic manager who has no business leading teams
Yet these types of managers are everywhere and nothing is ever done to fix that
Yeah what a piece of sh***

“This is an imperative personal matter and I trust folks will be respectful of that. Let’s take this offline if what I just mentioned is confusing in any way, shape, or form.”
Your manager is still a kid and that’s not your fault.
Most important, condolences. Be well, my friend.
Listen, I would say at a very minimum this person needs to get a piece of your mind. Don’t do it now, go be with family. But I would put in writing how that experience was for you. “I felt the need to get something off my chest. I know you’re under a lot of pressure but the experience that you put me through last week was something I can’t stop thinking about. I told you I had a family emergency, and instead of believing me or honoring that, you questioned me on a call in front of our entire team. I lost my grandmother and had to travel out west to be with my grandfather. I was barely holding it together. And I would hope that as a professional you would accept my explanation or at least pay me the courtesy of not asking me personal questions on a call with the entire team. That situation added a lot of stress and angst to a week that was already one of the worst of my life, and I needed you to know how your actions had an impact on me”
I personally wouldn’t report this person to HR unless their response is grossly inappropriate. But I do understand the sentiment. I think that people learn better when they’re given a chance to be told how their behavior impacted you, and to respond. If this person responds without absolute apologetic empathy and embarrassment then sure, absolutely report them. But to me the purpose of a report is only if u truly believe they won’t learn and act differently in the future.
You unfortunately have no choice but to report your manager. You don’t want any sort of poor performance noted on your review down the road related to this…really sorry for your loss
It sounds like the manager didn’t know it was bereavement leave – OP said they asked for an “family emergency” which could mean a lot of things. It’s not an HR violation to confirm that the full day is needed.
Agree that OP should take the time. Sounds like manager also agrees after confirming necessity.

This was my exact response
You should check to see if your company offers bereavement leave. If they do, take the full amount. Work will always be here in one form or another, whereas mourning a family member is a delicate process that you deserve to be able to do.
Your PM is entirely out of line, and clearly lacks social awareness and basic human empathy.
Assuming they approve it
Thank you all for the kind notes and for the advice, truly appreciate it.

Wow! Sorry for your loss and pm lack of empathy
Sorry to hear that. This kind of stuff happens way too often. People need to realize there is more important stuff in life than work.
I'm sorry for your loss and your PM is an emotionless being.
They could have called you in private. May I ask if this is someone young or old. Just out of curiosity.
Placing my bet on old.

I'm sorry for your loss. Having to give the reason during the group call let the rest of your team know your manager is moron.
That's a curel manager right there. Thank you, Next.
