What’s the best benefit at your firm?
Career advice needed. Thanks in advance. What would be a potential feasible path to make the transition from Big Four assurance role to MBB consulting role? I have 1 year experience in industry as FP&A and couple months as fund accountant before I graduated from school and went to Big four as IT auditor and could switch to core auditor ,cybersecurity or ECG advisory etc. I’ll get the CPA and CFA soon and have some basic coding skillsets. Considering to do MBA/graduate degree if necessary. McKinsey & Company PwC Deloitte

You have to plan for more doctors appointment (such as weekly appointments) the last few weeks so that will take up time. If you are high risk it could be 3-5 times a week. I was out on bed rest prior to the third trimester but with all my appointments towards the end it would have been hard to be very productive. Before I went out on leave, I had to work a lot of nights and weekends to catch up and that wasn’t even during busy season. But it will just prepare you for being a parent because that is where it gets hard. Your best bet is to be able to work remotely. Depending on your level, this can make it much more doable
Get a doctor’s note for a reduced schedule. They can’t make you work more than said hours with a note.
you work 60 hours like normal or were you able to work fewer hours? Were your teams ok with you working less? Did you discuss/plan with your teams that you’d be working fewer hours so they could pick up other people’s time? I feel like during the third trimester it won’t be easy or healthy to work 60 and have that much stress. Any advice would be helpful!
Might be good to discuss it with your partner ahead of time regarding coverage for you, your expectations and time you intend to work. I was allowed to work remote after my month 5 even though I was working 10-12 hours. Plus my team was flexible when I had to go to the doctor.
I was pregnant during busy season , my son is 4 and he was born in February. It was horrible, i was tired, didn’t want to be bothered. My team tried but honestly in assurance we have too much to do so it was hard. EY may be more flexible and nowadays working from home is a real thing. Good luck
When you do become pregnant join the Career and Family Transitions coaching program. A coach will help you think through how to manage the transition down to leave and then your return to work. You can discuss how to communicate with your stakeholders and teams around your leave and how you will manage it.
