At age 40, you should see a reproductive endocrinologist along with your husband ASAP even though you started last month. At-home fertility tests are not enough. In addition to the blood tests, the RE will interpret them and perform a saline sonogram to check for uterine abnormalities (or an hsg to check for open Fallopian tubes). The best at home kits are the cheap ovulation predictor kit test strips (eg “easy @ home”) that you pee on 2-3X per day. The other gadgets you can choose to do as well in addition to the strips.
It took me 6 months to get an appointment with an RE. Definitely recommend to book and cancel later if you get pregnant naturally!

Totally agree, from getting in, to initial consult, to running timed tests, to setting the plan with the RE it took me 3-4 months, all the while you're trying naturally anyways.

Exactly what EY1 said!!!
Greateful for all the information! Just scheduled an appointment with a RE in May! Thank you all 💕
Thank you. I saw a gynecologist already and bloodwork indicated nothing to worry about and considering my age; everything looked great. They want me to try naturally for a few months first so i wanted an accurate ovulating kit
I agree! my OB told me to “keep trying for a few months”. Man, I wish I’d have at least gotten on the RE calendar faster. That was 14 months ago! We’ve been actively in the fertility process now since July. It takes weeks to get an appointment, more weeks to get tested and get another appointment to read results, then you are at the mercy of your period/cycle, and the worst part is insurance company approval processes. If I can give any advice it is to get started now! It is a massive “hurry up and wait” process and time is not on our side.
