My husband and I both had COVID-19 in late March, and I was working around the clock on layoffs and constantly prioritizing my work over my family.I finally hit a wall, listened to the voice inside, and left my HR leadership role to become an independent consultant. I am consulting with companies to help them bridge the enormous gaps between employee needs and current employer actions. My first order of business was running the first large-scale study focusing exclusively on COVID-19's impacts on working mothers. I would love to hear what your organizations are grappling with the massive undertaking of redefining your company culture and employee.

Anyone working/has worked remotely outside the US during covid? What are the legal/tax/IT implications to be aware of? I’ve been in India for a few weeks and wondering how long I can continue working from here.

Hello everyone! I have been a scrum master for over 6 years and am trying to break into Product Management, any advice on how to do this please?

I am currently working for a city and have been with my current position for about a year. Work-life balance and colleagues are great. I came from private practice prior to my current position. There’s a strong demand for laterals now; and I am thinking about going back to private practice because current salary is substantially lower (about 40% lower) than what I can get in private practice. Has anyone here thought about going back to private practice for the salary boost?

I am a 2nd year associate at a plaintiff’s firm specializing in toxic tort cases (individual). I’ve had the opportunity to be third chair on a trial, and will likely be second chair in an upcoming trial. However, given the track record of the firm and the amount of money at stake in each case, I am afraid I won’t get any first chair experience, if any, for at least another 5-7 years. I am considering staying at the firm but trying to get trial experience through side Pro Bono work. Thoughts?

SPHR exam- has anyone ever been “randomly selected” for an application audit? This just happened to me and the sheer amount of effort that is going to go into collecting all the documents almost makes me not want to follow through. Since I didn’t finish undergrad, they’re asking for a copy of my high school diploma or transcript and that itself is going to be an absolute nightmare to get hold of. Guess I’m not really looking for a solution here, just venting.

I’ve been working as a contract TAS for 6 months in a medical device company. I started part time and as it became busier/my trainer quit, I became full-time. I applied for the TA position through corporate and would like some insight. the company is short staffed and my site specifically does not have good TA retention. For the salary expectation, I put in 85k which is in the range. I’m currently at 64k which is below the minimum of the range. Is this realistic?

Our company is considering offering 401K employer match. We are about 200 employees venture backed company. We have about 60% participation mostly the non HCEs and only some key employees contribute. We always pass top heavy test and wpassed the 2019 ADP/ACP test. We are aggressively hiring and project there will be increase in participation, particularly if we offer the match. Given this information would it make sense to continue with a traditional 401k plan or go with safe Harbor plan?

After spending 4 years as a mid-level ops manager, I tried to break into HR through talent acquisition. Now after 6 years in TA, I've had a hard time getting out of it. My goal was always to get into a more broad HRBP position, but I've since worked for smaller orgs without a solid HR career path. When I ask about my career goals, they keep telling me, "Soon!" Or "Maybe in 6 months!"

Question: an employee was asked by his boss for same day turn around on responses/deliverables on a days he requested PTO. He completed the work. The manager wants to know if she can still deduct PTO time for the days requested, even though he completed work on those days. Help.
