Get a regular annual exam with your GYN, and share you are planning to get pregnant - they will give you all kinds of nutrition data, perhaps prescribe a prenatal vitamin, and have other recommendations on any testing to do in advance (there are some vaccines they’ll want to verify you had, or of not get them. Or before you become pregnant). Girlfriends Guide to pregnancy is a great book (humorous and informative). Start “practicing” for how you will pay for childcare - start setting aside that money each month now to see how that fits in your budget and any other adjustments you will need to make - then you will have a nice lump sum when the baby arrives that you can just roll into a college fund and have a great head start on that item!! And relax - you will have 9 months to get ready - babies have arrived and will continue to arrive in spite if the worlds current crazy circumstances. You will be great parents - because you cared so much you started planning ahead now!!

Super helpful! Sending lots of ♥️ for sharing this great info!

Go ahead and get life insurance for you and your spouse if you don't have it already at 8x-10x annual salary. Start a 529 plan for your kid (you can open now under your name and start contributing then switch to your kid's name when they're born). Put money in HSA if possible for the hospital costs. If FSA is your only option, wait til you get pregnant so you know what tax year you'll use the funds in. Compare health insurance options to determine which has the best cost-benefit for pregnancy/childbirth. If you want to get pregnant quickly, use an app to track your cycle along with using ovulation test strips (cheap on Amazon) and track your basal body temperature every morning.

Also start taking a prenatal vitamin now! Very important to get enough folic acid/folate for a few months even before conception to prevent spina bifida.

I had a baby in December. Candidly, it was hard that a majority of my maternity leave we were inside, first because of flu concerns (through Feb) and because of covid (from March until I returned in July). Obviously I was not pregnant during Covid, so I’m not even sure what that entails. Although for what it’s worth because my husband and I had to do IVF we are scheduling another embryo transfer in October so we can have our second kid. I’m not doing anything in particular to mentally prepare because who knows what and how long coronavirus is going to last. We’ve just decided we’re not gonna let it put a hold on our lives. Should this quarantining stuff continue next year let’s say when you have a baby it was kind of nice that my husband was home basically almost half of my maternity leave. It was pretty cool for him not to have to commute he got to spend more time with our son. So there are some upsides.

My husband and I have been trying for several months now. For dietary I try to eat as healthy as possible but am not perfect. I cut out alcohol (didn’t drink much anyway). I also take a prenatal vitamin. Financial we were working on paying off debt but now we are just saving everything (partly due to COVID too in case one of us were to lose a job). Emotionally, my advice would be to try not to “plan.” This has been hard for me because I’m definitely a planner but I’ve found that I don’t really have much control over when/if I get pregnant and it just makes each month harder for me.

Do what makes you comfortable/happy and you will be fine with whatever you decide. Going though a miscarriage is probably giving you a case of the dreads. Allow your self to be hopeful.

Not sharing prep to get pregnant but wanted to share some thoughts of being pregnant during this pandemic. As someone who was pregnant, went through labor and now has a newborn during the pandemic, I cannot stress enough that you have family and friends who will isolate for you post baby. Obviously this could change if this pandemic ends before you deliver but it is incredibly hard. As for doctors appts, mine from 32-39 weeks, I went alone and was always wearing a mask. I delivered with no visitors and husband granted to stay post delivery only while we were physically in the hospital and labored majority of the time with a mask. I hope the best for you but wanted to share that being pregnant during this pandemic is no joke and if I could have known this was how it would be, I would've waited.

Taking folic acid! Try to relax as much as possible! I know that’s easier said then fine. Start looking and securing childcare as soon as you’re pregnant. Some places have a long waitlist and you may have trouble getting in.

I’ve been waiting for security clearance since July and just found out I’m pregnant after trying for a year. I’m hoping clearance will be granted in early spring 2021 and I can start work soon after. Thankfully taking unpaid time off isn’t a big issue (won’t be eligible for FMLA or parental leave), but worried about timing and telling HR & my supervisor. I’m planning to tell them once I start; know timing isn’t ideal and stressed about starting off on the wrong foot. Any advice?

It only took me 7 years to figure this system out.... posting in case it helps anyone else! I color coded my classes and printed off numbers according to the number of kids in my classes. I then assign each kid a number that corresponds with my gradebook. When they turn in their projects, they put their number with it. This way, no contact and I can easily see who has and hasn't turned in their projects yet. I take the list down once they remember their number.

Hi my newborn baby has been diagnosed with hip dysplasia by pediatrician and I have an appointment next week with the orthopedic. Most likely it’s going to be a harness. It’s my first child and I am very nervous. Is there anyone who has been through this? I hope not l, but if there is , I would like to know your experience.

Need support and to vent/rant….Just broke up with my fiancé of 7 years (discovered infidelity and I couldn’t get past it) Literally the week before busy season. He moved out of our home this weekend. I’m trying to not break down. But how do I deal with this heartbreak and working through busy season? I have a kid from a previous relationship (her dad died 2 years ago) and I’m also really worried about her. I will have no support from another parent. What do I do?

Hey ladies. Can we take a second to talk about friendship? As a working mother of two that works from home, I’m finding it hard to making friends or maintaining friendships.
