That’s a very tough situation, but that’s also great that one of you still have a job. Maybe you could support your husband finding a new job, and also start to think about the next step for you? Finding a new job can be easier when you have one, so for now, be patient, and start to think about where you could go/do. Also, keep in mind that in reality, the company didn’t do anything against you. It is not personal. They had to take the hard decision to lay off people but in a different financial situation, you would still both have your job. Hope it helps a bit. Best of luck for the next steps.
Thank you
I think, for your sake (this is hard no matter how you look at it) is to look at it through rose tinted glasses:
1. You still have your job.
2. The person, manager or group of people deciding on layoffs may have done it by a few factors (not by name or relation) those being:
A. Title
B. Department
C. Need (releasing those with less priority for company survival)
D. Pay (cutting the highest pay)
With this said, yes it's hard not to see these people (your husband) as humans with needs/desires and wants, but playing devil's advocate - they at least didn't shut the doors and one of you have a paycheck still coming in.
There still are jobs out there. Support your husband and for your sake.....one of my favorite pieces of ancient wisdom from The 4 Agreements (Don Miguel Ruiz), "Don't Assume".
Thank you
