My husband and I would like to start trying for kids in about 6 months and I’d love to hear your reading recommendations for pregnancy and parenting! Pretty nervous and would really appreciate hearing what was helpful for you during this journey 😬

Expecting Better by Emily Oster! I’m currently pregnant and reading her second book too (Cribsheet).
I also started tracking my ovulation w/cheap test strips about 6 months out so I could get an idea of what my typical cycle looked like

Thank you!! I’m adding these to my to-read list for sure

Pregable test strips from Amazon and the Smile Reader App for sure! Planning 6 months in advance might feel silly to you in the end, as it did for us. We are on 3 years of TTC. Just start when you both feel ready - no need to wait a prescribed amount of time - is my biggest advice. ❤️

Thank you so much for the recommendation and for sharing. Best of luck to your and your partner 💛💛

Taking charge of your fertility to understand how getting pregnant actually works. Expecting better for more modern/practical pregnancy advice, I liked the ina may book about labor. Taking cara babies for newborn care/sleep help and big little feelings + Janet Lansbury for parenting advice

We liked precious little sleep too!

Start taking prenatal vitamins before you start trying!

Moms on call for the first 6 months. You can pick what you choose to implement, but I credit that book for getting my kid to sleep 8 hours by 2 months. Right when I was about to lose it from lack of sleep. Whew!

Amazing thank you so much for the heads up haha I’ll be adding this to my list

Bringing up Bebe was an easy read. Not too prescriptive. Our little one is sleeping through the night, since 2.5 mos. Didn’t cry it out but did the “pause” and nudged her into a feeding routine pretty early. Sound machine, black out curtains, love the magic Merlin more than the halo swaddles we used earlier. Get some help during the week before you return to work, just to catch a break. Enjoy the snuggles!

Looking for advice since I’m new to the city. I recently moved into an apartment in a converted old townhouse. There has been inconsistent hot water since we moved in 2 months ago even though the management company keeps telling us the boiler has been fixed. It’s so bad that sometimes we go days without hot water. What are our next steps? Threatening to withhold rent gets them to send someone out, but the boiler is clearly not being fixed appropriately.
