He must have a condition.
I would approach as a simple “hey, this thing that keeps happening, might be something treatable. Would you see a doc?”
A doctor should be able to find the cause…
This is by no means normal and he should seek medical attention asap (excessive sweating can be a symptom of cancer). That aside, it seems very problematic that he doesn’t seem to care how this impacts you and you also don’t know how to bring up such a non controversial topic (you both know it’s happening). I think there are bigger problems to work through here

Can you lower the temperature when you sleep or get more breathable bedding (linen vs synthetic etc)?
Get an eight sleep mattress cover. Look it up, I have one and it’s amazing
Have you tried a cooling blanket?

Along those lines - maybe something like this would help?

Maybe try a cooling pad, I’ve used that before for a similar issue… life changer
So if this is about bringing it up to him, it sounds like he knows by your other responses. I would just say “hey, do you feel hot when you sleep because you’re sweating a lot and sleeping in a pool of it. Does that bother you?” It’s not like snoring where they have no idea. He’s waking up wet the bed is wet. See how he reacts to that and have him help solution with you.
I mean. He has to care that it’s visible to him and impacts you. Even if it has no impact to him. Most reasonable people would feel self conscious and worry about their partners impact. If that’s not the case I agree it’s time to get help.

No doctor so obviously just my opinion but he probably has hyperhyrdrosis. It can be caused by thyroid issues (which a blood test would determine) or not. I have it (not thyroid related) but not nearly as bad as your husband. But I do take a daily medication for it and that has helped immensely.
