My husband’s company is taking off exponentially with little to no obstacles in sight. Would you quit or keep your job if your salary was essentially a moot point?

I would keep my job until I didn't like it anymore. I like it right now.

I personally get bored easily, so I would then try to find something else I like or find fulfilling.

Definitely would keep working - mostly because I love it and for a sense of purpose. I also like having my own money and not having to ask anyone for anything. Being financially independent is very important to me. Maybe I am wrong, but I feel even a husband may respect you more when you pay your own bills and he does not have to be the sole provider. This is probably not true when you raise children and chose to not work outside the home.

If you are doing your job for the salary, quit. If you’re doing it for the intellectual stimulation, social interaction, fun, or personal growth, think about how you can optimize. Maybe cut back on hours (not caring if it slows progression) so you can spend more time with hubby. Maybe move to a new vertical and expand your expertise. Go back to school pert time to pursue something you’ve always been interested in. In general, take some risks for the sake of challenge and curiosity.

@D1 I do think you are wrong. If you feel that you are respected because you bring $$ home then you really need to question what your marriage is based on.

I’d quit my job in a heartbeat and pursue something I was actually passionate about

I’d move to half time. I love what I do, and it would be more fun if I knew I was working for just for fun! Would love to have more time with my kids.

Agreed

I would keep it as M1 mentioned- until it isn’t in anymore- or you have enough to retire on. We can live off of one salary now so we are banking more to retire earlier and or have more fun trips along the way.

like

I’d probably stop working in my high stress job and go work for a social enterprise or nonprofit where I could do something more meaningful.

Just because it's growing today doesn't mean it will be growing tomorrow. Use your income to pay off your house or save for a beach house.

like

Keep your job if it’s an opportunity to live out your full potential.

And then what?

I'd be out. But make sure you have things you want to do, so you don't end up bored/depressed.

Quit quit quit

I would definitely leave this job. Makes no sense being in a high-burn, travel gig if money is not a factor. Follow your dream, do something you are passionate about, work at a non-profit, do something good for the world, make a difference.

What ZS said. I keep my job because i like the people and its better than staring at 4 walls and cleaning. Its also satisfying to see that I earned my money and accomplished something that day. Being unemployed is hard, unless you are on perpetual vacation mode and ok with that

I would keep my job if I love what I do. Like others have said, having your own money gives a sense of security that can’t be measured. Besides, I would be bored after a couple months of unemployed life

Hello! I am looking for some perspective. Those who have been in an arranged marriage - 1. What qualities did you seek in a partner? 2. How long did it take for you to decide that your partner was the right one when you first started talking to them (how frequently did you meet them)? 3. How important was your family's opinion? 4. Are you happy with your decision right now? Please provide your gender and experience. FYI - I am a little skeptical about arranged marriages, but I have seen it work
