I’m in the laundry room eating a cookie in silence as we speak lol

My daughter learned to open doors and now even the bathroom has stopped being my safe space. Also we have a friend who is spending 2 months in an Airbnb in Hawaii between leases, so I feel you OP.

I feel like I’ve barely gone to the bathroom alone in years

Yes!! The hardest part about being a parent is that there is no break. Never. No holidays, no sick days, no mental health PTO. We as a society really need to give parents a break. Bring back sleepover camps or something.

It is almost as if the natural way to raise children is in extended groups and families and the idea of the nuclear family is a completely artificial construction. In other words, I agree.
Are there places nearby where you can go for hikes/ or any outdoor activity that you can start doing with kids? If so, just get out every week and do something. Won't be like the freedom of the couple you mentioned. But will still feel better than not exploring places

Great ideas but right now with a 1 yo and dead winters I think the max outdoor activity I can think of or am brave enough is to take go to parks even that is cooollllddd for me! We are trying to look forward to doing more outdoor activities but really it won’t beat living in a tree house or having a in room jacuzzi lol…

Ahh yes I have those childless carefree friends too. Believe it or not, I do think they are sometimes jealous of us bogged-down-with-kids people too.
I just ate a cookie while the nanny watched the baby. While the nomad life maybe a little out of reach for us at the moment, I’m trying to be intentional about getting help/outsourcing so I can get back capacity and some leisure (read cookie eating) time back :)
