Personally, I would look to jump straight to the analyst role if you're already having doubts. IA is not for everyone. In fact, I'd say it's not for most people lol. Market is hot and you can definitely get a similar raise jumping to an analyst role instead.
I did IA and ended up leaving for FP&A because it was incredibly boring. And yes, I did both SOX and operational audits, the latter being more interesting but honestly overhyped by people in IA. Guess they need something to be excited about.
Best part of IA is the hours with decent pay. But I'd rather work 45 hours/week in a role with growth potential that I enjoy vs. 40 hours in a job I hate with limited growth.
I’m in IA right now and really like it. I’ve never had a job they paid this much relative to the hours I work. I’ve also worked in an accounting role in industry before and found the endless close cycles to be boring and find the compliance/operational stuff to be way more interesting. Happy to answer any questions you have, but I would advise that you don’t only do it because of the pay increase.
