No. You go to ER and let them bill your old employer insurance. And buy COBRA afterward.
You usually have already paid your insurance premium and are covered through the end of the month you leave. I’ve left a handful of jobs and that’s always been the case.
Many insurance companies have a transitional package when switching employers. And some even offer the first month free, which if you only need a week could mean no cost at all. Try giving them a call and seeing what they can offer.
