My kids (under 5) are constantly sick and the rules lingering from the pandemic are making it even harder to send them to preschool with even a minor illness. We are seriously missing 1/3 of the childcare that we pay for and it’s affecting work performance. Any tips for managing this when both parents have demanding jobs?

In the same boat and have been told by lots of parents of older kids that this is just a phase you struggle through whenever your kids are first in school and building immune systems(whether daycare, preschool, or kindergarten if they were home before that). Hang in there.

Does your school system have any plans for a “test to stay” approach? My daycare got some state funding at the beginning of the year and has been testing all the staff+preschoolers weekly so that we can send them with runny noses. It’s been amazing.

like

We test and have an almost zero tolerance illness policy.

I struggle with this as well. My son has been under exposure quarantine 6 times since June and it’s such a hassle as there isn’t backup care for quarantine. It’s been mostly me waking up to work throughout the night to make up time which has left me with insomnia

Hi, I am a single-parent with a 9 year old daughter. Is anyone else dealing with same gender sleepovers with sexual exploration occurring? Exploring as in my daughter says outright “I am going to kiss you,” to her bestie before bed. Then after 15 minutes of giggling in bed I go to tell them to be quiet and see my daughter’s bestie is showing her buttcheeks to my daughter. To top it off they start trying to tell me they are laughing because they are reading “belly laugh books for kids”. Help.

Got an offer from Baker Hughes for a senior role. Trying to understand how the work culture is, work life balance outlook and how are the benefits? How is the transition like from a big4 consulting to industry?

Anyone other staff feel like the biggest contributor to stress during busy season isn’t the workload. It’s the lack of support or help while you’re just thrown into the deep end not knowing how to swim? In-charges, especially the newly promoted ones are either hit or miss or they’re way too busy with their own work. I almost feel like I’m ready to quit because no job is worth the mental health sacrifice.

A month ago I gave my boss a formal letter requesting a review of my current job duties and a salary adjustment and title change. I’m performing at a senior level and not being paid for it. She agreed with the argument and submitted request to HR. Last week I asked her for an update and she casually said it will probably take three more months bc HR is so backed up and dropped it. I’m grossly underpaid and getting more tasks daily. What can I do? Can this be retroactive? I’m so fed up.
