If the tubes are hairy, it might just be hair balls. It’s possible that the increased frequency is due to extra shedding as the weather is warming up.
That said, taking her to a vet for blood work isn’t a bad idea. Make sure it’s not a kidney issue or something. Possibly worth it, even if she’s fine, because you’d have a baseline for later, if needed.
Thanks friends. I am diligent about brushing her twice a day but she definitely could be shedding more with weather change. I got an appointment 1 week from now at another vet, and got the number for an urgent care they recommend if things go south before then. They said if she doesn't eat for a couple days, keeps vomiting etc. that's urgent enough to take her in. Hope this helps somebody, it's nerve wracking for a cat parent!
Looking up, she is eating again and drinking water. Tbh she doesn't like the gel but I smear it on her leg and she compulsively licks it off!
Tubes? Maybe there’s another vet in your area you can visit sooner than your usual one.

Make sure you brush her daily to minimize shedding. She probably got too much of her own hair swallowed.
Find a brush she'll like (may go through a few models).
As long as she eats/drinks and poops/pees and cleans herself regularly, it's likely not an emergency, but I'd still look for another vet in the area who can see her sooner.
Agree with brushing daily if you don't already. My vet recommended non-prescription hairball remedy when my cat started getting hairballs more. He seemed really sick at that time, so that was her recommendation and that if his appetite or water drinking changed, to bring him in, otherwise give the hairball remedy a chance to work. He still gets hairballs but not as much and they're smaller, so he's not getting sick like he was. I use Tomlyn according to the directions on the package.
Tomlyn acquired, fingers crossed!
Sounds like a normal hairball issue, especially if she’s eating normally! It might turn out she needs more moisture in her diet to help the fur move through her system. The gels like Tomlyn/Laxatone/etc are usually helpful. Hope everything works out.
Sounds like just hairballs. Hairballs are weird looking like tubes. The first time my bf saw my cat throw up a hairball he freaked out. If she’s acting fine, not lethargic, drinking plenty of fluids she’s probably fine. You can get her special hairball food or supplements to help.

Giving my kitty Tomlyn hair ball remedy has helped… but on vet’s recommendation!
