My law firm gives me a report that breaks down the amount of billable hours collected compared to how much I’ve been paid on a monthly basis. Does anyone else’s firm do this? At what point do you think it’s acceptable to ask for a bonus/raise?

My billing software shows this on the homepage and it’s available every day. It’s supposed to be used as a “metric” and “discussion tool” at my (mid-sized regional) firm for end of year decisions and performance reviews. However, it’s been made clear to us that it’s not a negotiating tool for an out of cycle raise/bonus. Hope you have better luck

I’m with ya, I’m at 3.5x or so, and it’s not even close to year end yet. Definitely putting in the back of my mind that I’m worth more and hoping to be valued properly at the end of this year...

The guideline I've always heard is that your collections should be 3x your salary. If there's a large gap, time to ask for a raise.

Questions -
1) How is the work culture in Evalue as compared to EY India?
2) They are asking to join within 1 month, can this be extended to 2 months which is NP at EY?
3) I have asked for 17 LPA fixed. So, how abt the salary structure over there? Negotiations are still happening. So, how much can they give.
4) Work life balance is imp, so how abt the same?

Question for BCGer: I am not clear about how to compare promotion timelines with McK/Bain.

My understanding of the promotion timeline is the following:

Consultant to PL -> 21 (if you were an A at BCG) to 30 months

PL to Principal -> Minimum 45 months of tenure as a C+PL

Principal to Partner -> 21 months of Principal tenure, but can only promote in Jan or May (?)

Partner to MDP -> Absolutely no clue how this works

This might be all wrong, so super happy to be corrected.

I have an offer to do some consulting for a company based out of the UK (I am in the US). The job would not go through a consulting company but would be directly with the company. I have not done any consulting before so I am not sure how it works, what I would need to set up (they mentioned that I would start a LLC and bill them directly, no idea how to do that), how to determine the tax implications of this, or what hourly rate I would expect. Can anyone offer advice?

Can anyone relate to working from home and having children at home 24/7 due to mandatory virtual schooling? It seems as if my male colleagues do not understand why I can’t meet the billable hours each month. I haven’t had a paralegal or any admin assistance in 7 months. And one response I received today was “Can’t you just lock them out of your office.” No I can’t. And the firm is making 7k per month revenue off of me but wanting the double my billing.
