Wanted to share smth I found recently. I felt like it was pretty darn accurate. I’ll provide the link here but there’s a screenshot I took that I feel I can relate to quite heavily. https://pairedlife.com/love/infatuations
I’ve struggled with so many heavy infatuations before and a friend recommended this. Hope it helps anyone else out there who’s gone through this or may be going through this right now.

Please take FMLA. Usually it’s 12 or 13 weeks off
You also don’t get paid under FMLA
I recently experienced some issues with not one ,not two, but three sick brothers! Back to back In the past year. Each of them was a mental/emotional drain. By the third one I was starting to crack. Talked to my manager and told him I needed to cut back on my hours to deal with brother #3 who had a lot of doctor appointments and needed the most care. FMLA doesn’t apply to brothers. My experience was very positive. My employer did not cut my pay and I worked 20-30 hours weekly for a little over one month. It made all the difference to my psyche.
In your situation I recommend going to see a therapist and getting a medical authorization for a short term leave. If you have short term leave benefits then it’s paid. If you do not then you should be able to take an unpaid leave. Use your vacation time to help offset the cost. Take care of yourself. You have a lot on your plate.
Cont: I work in real estate, so given the state of the industry I don’t want drain my savings in the event I get laid off within the next year. I’ve never felt so depressed or defeated before. I’ve started therapy, anti depressants, etc but I took only 1 week off and can barely get anything done at work. I need more time.
I went through this as well and told my boss what was going on and she didn't give a rats ass. Just told me to stay busy to keep mind from thinking about it. Really, she just wanted a warm body there and continued to make me work another year and a half. My mental health and performance at work completely deteriorated. It got so bad, that I started getting bullied at work, to the point that I was vomiting in the bathroom anytime they would say something mean to me. Go to your doctor and see if he can write a note that you need a month or 2 off due to health issues. Your job doesn't need to know what's going on. I actually had my sister call in and email the letter to my boss stating I needed time off.
Take off one weekend first to reset. Don’t do anything, no chores etc.
Your mental health is most important. Take a leave of absence and apply for short term disability leave. Have your therapist sign off on the necessary medical forms. Good luck! I hope things get better for you.
This will wreck your credit for years to come, so I wouldn't do it. Even 30 days late stays on your credit for 7 years. I would either dip into your savings, or work part time during this time to make up for it. Maybe work a less "brain intense" job like Uber/Lyft (assuming your car is now drivable), or DoorDash. I would also suggest retail as this time of year is busy, but I don't think working retail will help your mental health and the money isn't that great.
Sorry to hear about the tough times you've experienced, OP.
