My manager left the company and now I report to her boss. During a 1:1 meeting, she brought up my salary and how she thinks I’m being underpaid. How do I go about starting a salary review/negotiation?

Have you asked her that?

+1 and start looking at market average and see if you are really being underpaid just so you have a range on what to expect with what answer she’ll give you

like

Just ask for a salary review. I would ask for another 1:1 and come prepared with why you should get a salary increase. Sounds to me like she would be expectin thtat anyway.

Can I renegotiate my salary after starting a new job? It’s only been a month and 3 weeks or so but with bills and the cost of living I feel as though I should have required the max payout of what they were offering for the role… I technically shorted myself 3k. What should I do?

Interviewed and was offered a job that has tons of growth potential and better area to live in. Offer is more money than what I make now but would require leaving everything I know behind and starting in a new state. Do employers typically negotiate within reason? I’m looking for 5% more than what was offered.

I am currently doing my full-time internship at a startup where I am getting paid 17$/hr. I will most probably be continuing with them in Fall as a part-time and asked for an upgrade to 25$/hr. I asked for that upgrade because I already have around two years of experience outside of Canada as a social media executive in a multinational company. I am currently doing a masters degree at Concordia so I believe 25$/hr would be more appropriate. Am I aiming too high?

To save their asses they promoted me and gave me a small base bump but kept my commissions % low so that my high number was my new at plan.

Hello FishBowl,

I’m in the final rounds of my interview process for a NYC Hedge fund, non tech role. The recruiter mentioned the compensation package is bonus heavy which can be multiples of base salary. Though they will guarantee a full bonus (sign on + year end) for my first year. 300k target

My current role/company is salary focused so I’m out of my element negotiating the bonuses.

What type of questions should I ask the recruiter about the bonus payouts? Vesting?

I am going to counter with 100k and 8k signing bonus and provide them with my reasoning. The salary range on the job posting is 84k - 99k - 109k. Is 8k more insulting? Should I ask for 102k? The recruiter told me they are targeting low 90s when we first started talking, fyi. I also heard this company doesn't do signing bonuses so we will see about that.

Thanks
