You can make suggestions like “would it make sense if we did this”, or “this is what I/we found, it seems like it could impact xyz. Do you think we should abc”. Just non aggressive helpful direction worked well for me a lot throughout my career so far.
I like this suggestion. As a manager that needs to work on confidence, this really helps and makes me feel supported. Also, giving some props when they move in the right direction. Also giving feedback, that went well, next time also do this..
Following since I’m in the same situation, only he is a principal so my direct manager but several layers above . 🙄😒
What makes you think your manager is lacking in confidence?
They’ve stated it - which in itself is a huge indicator of their confidence issue
State what he / she does well, what to work on, why he / she is so valuable. Oreo method works like a charm, gives confidence and direction. You got this.
